The hotel is located on the main Promenade with local shops etc nearby. Bus 308/309 from Newcastle head into Whitley Bay, its about a 5 minute walk from Whitley Bay bus stop to hotel.
Now with the hotel......
On the approach to hotel, from the outside it looked like a building suite being truthful, but I was wrong after having the situation explained to me after being checked in at Reception.
The lovely staff at Reception clearly politely explained they're going through a good refurbishment programme, making the hotel looking good.
My original room(2), unfortunately had issues with a fan in there but I was moved to room (19] which was much better indeed. Room (19) was very clean, good ensuite too.
Breakfast was ok, breakfast is served from 6.30am.
They're are around 17 steps up to hotel rooms & breakfast room from main reception.
But overall yes, when I'm up here again- I'll definitely come back. The staff here who I seen and spoken too, were very helpful, patient and understanding which I respected, as I am a customer with learning disabilities.
The largest and most impressive hotel in Whitley Bay, centrally located on South Parade, the Windsor is situated within sight of the sea on the scenic Northumbrian coast.

The lady on the first night behind the counter was very friendly. Beds were big, as were the rooms. The location was excellent.

Friendly, warm welcome from Michael. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was very comfortable and relaxing, with a lovely view over the park. The complimentary fizz and chocolates was a nice touch too. The hot breakfast was very tasty and the selection of continental items to choose from was excellent. The location of the hotel was ideal. Only a short walk to the playhouse we were visiting, the beach and local restaurant.
Just 150 metres from Whitley Bay’s sandy beaches, this 4-star bed and breakfast offers stylish contemporary accommodation.

Everything was tailored to a comfortable stay. The furnishings were good quality, there were lovely toiletries rather than the wall mounted pump-dispensed shower gel often seen in hotels, the decor was lovely and everything felt fresh. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, great coffee, and little touches like jam in jars rather than plastic sachets made my stay at this little boutique B&B feel like a treat.
Just a 1-minute walk from Whitley Bay’s beautiful beach, Sandsides Guest House offers rooms with flat-screen TVs and free WiFi. Guests can enjoy hearty, full English breakfasts.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops.
Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops. It also has easy access to Newcastle and the surrounding area by road and by Metro. In the summer Whitley Bay is busy but in the winter it is much quieter.
I have visited this town many times while visiting my daughter. On this occasion my visit was not a holiday; I was helping my daughter to move house.

Whitley Bay is ideally place for walks along the coastal path both North up to Blyth and South down to South Shields and the pretty Souter lighthouse.
Be sure to try to time a visit to St Mary's lighthouse for a spot of seal spotting.
The walks along the promenades down to Tynemouth are all on the level with plenty of eating and drinking options.
If time allows be sure to get the tram into Newcastle Central and the train from there to Durham to visit the marvellous cathedral and castle

I loved the walks along the coast to the lighthouse and to see Spanish City. In the opposite direction it is nice to walk along the coast to Cullercoats and on to Tynemouth. The walks are peaceful and the little shops at Tynemouth are lovely. There are plenty of coffee shops along the way and fish and chip shops if you get peckish. Parking is relatively cheap in Cullerboats but you may need to wait if the car park is busy, for someone to get chatting to.
Quite simply the best guest house I've ever stayed in. The whole property is spotlessly clean and Paul and Lee go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your stay. Always ready to impart their brilliant local knowledge - they are tremendous ambassadors for Whitley Bay and indeed the North East. Breakfast was cooked to order and was fantastic on each of our three mornings as we worked our way through a varied menu. If you're planning a trip to Whitley Bay this property should be your first choice. Thanks for a wonderful visit.
Have recently returned from a two day stay at Dune's Hotel. The Hotel is situated in a very convenient position for all the local amenities - shops, restaurants, sea front and the Metro Station - which was brilliant for us as my husband was attending the Rugby League World Cup in Newcastle! Very large room with lovely comfortable, large double bed and a great large screen TV! Everything was very clean. The owner and staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. We will definitely stay again when next in the area.
The location was brilliant and couldn’t have been handier for what we wanted. From our window we had St Mary’s Lighthouse to the left and Spanish City to the right. Our host had sourced some excellent gluten free sausages for us. She is extremely knowledgeable about Tynemouth and Whitley Bay and suggested an Indian restaurant for us which again exceeded expectations. We will definitely make this top our our list of guest houses in Tynemouth.
The location was very good. Close to the sea as well as the shops. Road was nice and quiet. Nice to have an off road parking space. The message sent about the keysafe was easy to understand. The sitting room was nice and bright. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the main bedroom was nice and dark, whereas the back bedroom, although nice and quiet, was not very dark in the morning.
Beautiful guest house in the heart of Whitley Bay. spotlessly clean throughout, great hosts who were very friendly and welcoming. serving one of the best breakfasts that I've had in a guest house. if you are thinking of coming to Whitley Bay, then look no further than the Metropolitan guest house
My experience was exceptional. Beautiful accommodation, friendly staff, amazing breakfast. Less than 5 minutes walk to the beach. It really made by trip. Please support these small businesses. They truly made me feel welcome and couldnt do enough for me. 5 star place.
Everything was of the highest standard and comfort. The attention paid to our particular travel restrictions made all the difference to our stay. We highly recommend the York House Hotel if you are visiting Whitley Bay! Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to return.
Everything. The owners were very attentive and very friendly. The room was amazing. Bed was soooo comfy. The breakfast was cooked fresh in the morning and was outstanding. I don’t have a bad word to say about this hotel. We will be back next year.
The location of this Hotel is great, right on the front. The other reason we picked this hotel, was because it is dog friendly. The room itself was quite spaciousand was very clean, a tray of tea and coffee provided.
Simple but clean room with a good shower.
Quiet and comfortable enough for a few nights stay.
Located right in Whitley Bay town centre near to station and sea front, excellent welcoming pub just across the road.
the staff are outstanding and looked after a group of guys exceptionally well. recommend staying here with a visit to Tynemouth for a nice evening. very easy to get into Newcastle and a lot cheaper
The hotel is well located for everything in Whitley Bay. Breakfast was top quality and the room had lots of nice touches that many hotels miss. The welcome was friendly and helpful.
The location and site were good , loved Whitley bay and Tynemouth , caravan large and accommodating , lots of extras ie cleaning products , toiletries . Info on the van etc .
Very clean bathroom, with plenty of hot water. Room had a fabulous view. Very centrally located. Good car parking near. Great breakfast served by a very lovely lady.
