Good location with friendly hosts. The room and bathroom were very clean and the little fridge was very handy. It was helpful that the extra room was made available to us for our belongings.
Situated in its own grounds, a short walk from the town centre, the Craiglynne Hotel offers a warm, friendly atmosphere with open fires in both the lounge and bar.

We paid for the room, dinner and breakfast. We booked a garden view room, the garden is out the front and we had a big red van and motor cycles parked in front of the window so we asked for another room, which was granted. The accommodation could do with a upgrade.
The dinner was the worst food served to us in 8 weeks off travel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I liked that you could choose what you required for breakfast. It is a more efficient system. The breakfast itself was excellent.
I attended a Whisky Festival dinner and the food was superb. A lot of time and effort had been put in by the hotel management the chef and the distillery staff.

The beds were a bit too soft but still comfy
The breakfast was very nice, you could ask anything to be cooked, the woman with her pink fringe was adorable, really taking care of us. Hot and cold options
The size of the room was good
The staff was very nice
The location was in the countryside, not far away from the distilleries
The view of the bedroom was nice, view in the garden

The countryside around provides plenty of peaceful walks, skiing is also available at the nearby Lecht Ski Centre, who manage to provide skiing even when there is very little snow about !

Even at the height of summer, be prepared with your layered wind and waterproofs. As long as you have the correct clothing, the fine views to the Cairngorms and village walks can be enjoyed fully. There is plenty of bird life to view. The gift shop and clock restaurant are well appointed and worth patronising.

Friendly village.
Friendly village. Lovely cafes and a wonderful gift shop Spendrift. I did some Christmas shopping there and it was only May!. Best bacon rolls ever at the cafe across the main road from the house. We ate out at the Richmond hotel which is dog friendly and we also had an excellent fish supper from a van which comes on a Tuesday late afternoon. There are lots of lovely walks around the village itself as well as others in the surrounding area which is beautiful . Ideal spot for a relaxing holiday.

Richmond Hotel also did excellent food.
Richmond Hotel also did excellent food.
Sadly The Clock Restaurant across the road is not currently open due to Covid restrictions. Having been to Tomintoul three times previously I can highly recommend the available accommodation and the location in general.
We were a group of 4 families and had the best time at the hostel.
The communal kitchen/living space was perfect for entertaining all ages.
There was also a brilliant garden space too.
Tomintoul is a great wee town and has everything you need for a Highland adventure.
Great pub, restaurant, a well stocked post office, gift shop, visitor centre and some lovely walks to explore the local area.
We were delighted to help some local travellers by drying their clothes in the drying room. was lovely to hear about their adventures too.
lovely, comfortable, beautifully decorated, great facilities, well equipped kitchen, kind and thoughtful touches and welcome! great enclosed garden for the dog to mooch about in. perfect location for walks in the Cairngorms. village has everything you need - well stocked local shop and hotel bars/restaurants nearby - I recommend the Richmond Arms for good old fashioned home cooked food at a very reasonable price.
B&B work in progress but having said that, the house is an eclectic collection of the life and experiences of the very warm and friendly owners. The breakfast was hearty and filling, showcasing food from the surrounding towns. Location wise, it’s right in the middle of town behind Hotel Square. (It was once the tavern of a hotel at the same site)
Historic inn in the highest village of Scotland. Lovely location, large room. Excellent dinner and breakfast! Martin (innkeeper) was friendly and the place was comfortable and cozy. Inn is on the square in Tomintoul but it is a quiet and peaceful village. Kept windows open the entire night and had no noise.
We received such a warm welcome from the very friendly staff at the Richmond, and the room was very comfortable and clean. A highlight was the shower, which was just as hot and powerful as you'd want after a long day's walk. We would certainly recommend the Richmond for anyone passing through Tomintoul.
The house is very well located, very close to the central square of Tomintoul, with its hotels, brilliant restaurant (the Clockhouse), village store and tourist office. Our family of eight found the house very spacious and comfortable. We also enjoyed the nearby scenic walks on the Glenlivet Estate.
Location was convenient. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it was very good. Food was delicious and reasonably priced (breakfast was included). Leah was our server for both. She was attentive, hard working, pleasant and friendly.
A lovely warm welcome at this cosy hotel.
I was up to run The Dramathon. Staff were so friendly, accomodating and helpful, provided me with a packed lunch and even left bath salts in my bathroom on my return from the run.
Cosy log fire in the dining room. Meals delicious.
The value for money is brilliant, that's a fact. The staff was helpful and friendly. The pub/restaurant connected to the hotel is quaint, with a nice little terrace, a pool table and a well stocked bar. Great for relaxing after a long day.
I was in room7,would agree with other reviews that road noise was a problem.Food there was ok-nothing special but for £50 what do you expect…infact go across the road to the other pub/hotel and see what they are like!!!!
The Argyle Guest House is a well run establishment with everything needed for a brief or extended stay. The rooms are spacious and well put together and the hostess is wonderful.
