The entire staff team were excellent. Hayden and Kim greeted me at the door, Adam was very efficient and Holly was great asset had to contend w with my emails. The breakfasts w ere good and the Inn was able to cope brilliantly with our group of Old Shebbearians,a wedding party and an Inn full of customers.

The welcome from the host and the friendliness of the staff. The room was clean and had the availability of kettle and selection of sachets. The room was quiet and I had 2 good nights sleep on the comfortable bed. The shower was large and had plenty of hot water.

Kingsley Cottage B & B, hotel in Sheepwash

Situated in Beaworthy and only 25 km from Lundy Island, Kingsley Cottage B & B features accommodation with river views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Prior to our stay we sent over some enquiries and received very prompt and friendly replies with helpful information (follow Ray & Anne's advice about satnav directions). The cottage is set in a tranquil location, easy to find, with parking on site. We were greeted by Ray who showed us where we would have breakfast the following day, and then to our room which overlooked woodland from the side window and the wooded bank and treehouses to the rear, with bird feeder hung over the Juliet balcony. We were going out again to meet family, and were given the front door key for access later that evening. The room was comfortable, clean, and peaceful, with great facilities including a kettle, large mugs, cafetiere and fresh coffee, plus instant coffee, a variety of tea, and biscuits, plus fresh milk in the fridge on the landing. The mattress and pillows were comfortable, though the bed was a little creaky : / In the cosy breakfast room there was a lovely woodburner. Ray provided a superb breakfast, absolutely delicious, with more than we could eat which set us up for the day ahead. We would highly recommend Kingsley Cottage, a wonderful place to stay.

The George Inn, hotel in Sheepwash

Set in Hatherleigh and with Lydford Castle reachable within 24 km, The George Inn offers a restaurant, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. The standard double room was spacious, clean and had plenty of storage. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom a good size with a powerful shower . Decent Full English breakfast. Staff friendly. Enjoyed the band - Wreckords - who were playing on Bank Holiday Saturday evening - the pub had given us a courtesy call to advise there was music - which was good of them. This was a traditional pub in a quiet village. You need a car as it is interesting to explore the rural villages which are off the beaten track, but you are also within 1/2 an hour's drive from the coast or Dartmoor National Park.

The pub was welcoming, the hosts, staff and other customers.

The pub was welcoming, the hosts, staff and other customers. It is a bit remote BUT it was ideal for me as I used to go to school locally, had fished the Torridge, grew up reading Henry Williamson, walking the moor and playing rugby and cricket throughout the West Country. On a personal note I could not have wished for a better break away weekend. We enjoyed it so much that we are already planning our 52 year reunion! What more can I say.

Beautiful inn and the surrounding area of Half-moon Inn. The Inn is the most accommodating to the needs of people with dogs and gluten free needs. Fantastic food. Tea and breakfast was excellent. Recommended. Recommended booking for tea in advance. Lovely log fire in the bar. Dogs welcome in the bar during meal times. Nothing negative. All needs met. And exceptional service . Very friendly homely welcomed Inn.

Sheepwash is almost hidden away and it is essential that you have either Ordnance Survey maps or SatNav. Driving carefully is a must with so many curves and hills and country lanes that are not always the same width everywhere.

Easy to find, comfy, large room for two adults and a GSD (big dog!) well stocked bar and excellent food. Nice walks locally and some great countryside views. Very Covid aware, lots of hand sanitizers and everything you needed to know was clearly marked out. Enjoyed it so much we bought a house nearby!
