We visited with our dog and we were greeted with some dog items in the room such as bowls, treats, blankets and towels. Very friendly staff and we're happy to help.

The Mey Hotel, hotel in Scarfskerry

Formerly called The Castle Arms, The newly refurbished Mey Hotel is a 19th-century coaching inn and Visit Scotland award winning hotel just 8 miles from John O'Groats, in the village of Mey.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel which should be an indication that we like it. It is a charming place, ideally situated for visiting Orkney or just travelling the NC500, both of which we have done. The hosts ate extremely helpful and obliging and the food is delicious.

Dunnet B&B Escapes, hotel in Scarfskerry

Located in Dunnet, Dunnet B&B Escapes provides accommodation with free WiFi and access to a garden with a terrace. The accommodation features a hot tub.

The location was amazing, very close to the beach with beautiful views. The apartment was very tidy and the kitchen had some of the basic facilities needed for a short stay (e.g. a small fridge/freezer, coffee maker, toaster, plates/glasses/cutlery). The bathroom was beautiful with great shower pressure and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The breakfast was unbelievable - and delivered to the cottage every morning; we thoroughly enjoyed it! Sheila and John were amazing hosts and made us feel so welcome. Thank you.

Burnside Cottage, hotel in Scarfskerry

Featuring a garden, Burnside Cottage is situated in Wick in the Highlands region, 19 km from Sinclair's Bay and 3.6 km from The Castle Gardens of Mey.

Our stay at Burnside Cottage was amazing. Kacey was the perfect host, welcoming us when we arrived. The bed was comfortable and the shower great. In fact, the room was very well designed. We had everything we needed, including some really lovely organic soap and lots of hooks in the bathroom. Especially important for us, there was a fridge in the room. A lot of thought has gone in to making sure guests are comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding, the best food we had been served so far in our trip. I would not hesitate to book again if we get the opportunity to return.

North Point Pods (north coast 500), hotel in Scarfskerry

Featuring garden views, North Point Pods (north coast 500) is set in Thurso, around 3.8 km from The Castle Gardens of Mey.

Excellent in all aspects. Very well thought out Welcome Pack - take the time to read it through. Communication with the owner was above and beyond anything we've experienced at other rentals. That personal touch sealed the deal for this 5 star rating. Location is great. Good views from anywhere along the coast. We particularly enjoyed Duncansby Head Lighthouse and Stacks. We were also lucky enough to have a clear sky on the first night and got some aurora pics which cast a special glow over the memories we made during our stay.

It was convenient for where we wanted to visit. Things listed as part of the rental eg barbecue, tumble drier, coffee machine had to be paid for, no sea view. Ran out of essentials like toilet roll, wash up liquid, kitchen roll. Over priced.

If you stay in a house on the front, you get a lovely view if the sea and across to Orkney on a clear day. From Skarfskerry you can get to John o groats and down the east coast or you can can go west to many places. It is also just down the road from the castle Mey,owned by the Queen Mother. Go to the restaurant at Scrabster, lovely meals there. Avoid the van at John o groats for food. The fish n chips we got was frozen and awful. Go to Broughs Bay on the way to Dunnet head and you will see lots if seals. Hopefully you will see puffins at Dunnet head too.

It was an ideal location to stop off after day one of NC500 going anti clockwise. Close to lovely beach and supermarket in Thurso. Also close to John O Groats. We drove from here to the Dunnet Head lighthouse which was also close.

I enjoyed all the wildlife I saw the puffins the dolphins, I went over to dunnet head and I went down into a bunker and I saw all the wildlife and birds at water levelI,it was lovely experience, i went across to the Orkney Islands that was beautiful, I looked across to see if I can see my bed and breakfast and I'm fairly sure I found it looking through binoculars. I would like to thank Rita for a lovely stay thank you!
