The room was huge. Bigger than a London one bedroom flat. The bed very comfortable. Also it was very quiet. Also being a Wetherspoon makes it very convenient for early and quick breakfast.

We had dinner at the Star Inn one evening and all thoroughly enjoyed the cooking, the owner Anthony and the atmosphere too. Delicious fresh food and good value. There are no shops in Porkellis. The nearest supermarket is a couple of miles away, a Tesco en route to Helston.

It’s a one horse village with a wonderful pub and in the middle Of historic Cornwall . Easy reach to either coast and all things mining. Walking, cycling or going for a drive all awesome or just hanging out and reading a good book. I was on business on the area and could not have asked for a better place to come back to. Had dinner at the Starr Inn, one minute from the residence - awesome. You deffo need a car to get there and get around

We didn't spend much time at all in Porkellis but travelled to Maenporth Beach, which is absolutely beautiful with a very gorgeous bistro on the seafront as well as tea, coffee and ice-cream right on the beach. Parking was a bargain @ £3.00 for the day. Fantastic coastal walk through to Swanpool, only 1 3/4 miles, scenery was just beautiful. Local taxis company we fantastic a very reliable (Abacus Taxis). We was there to visit Exeter, Penryn University with my daughter which was just a 15 min drive., so perfect location ...

We arrived on a Monday and didn’t have any milk, pub was closed due to being a Monday and there isn’t a shop nearby to get some milk. So I would say plan milk, bread and dinner ahead. Went out second evening to find somewhere for dinner but drive round for ages without finding anywhere. Bit too isolated for a single mum and 2 kids, I needed somewhere to get bits from.
