WE MISSED HAVING breakfast which we had paid for in advance, because we arrived in the breakfast room after 9 .00 ( arrived 9.10 ). There was hardly anybody about but when we eventually found somebody - a man, who was very unhelpful, who told us that times of breakfast were in our room , at first we couldn't find these times, until we found a general notice on the back of the room door - in very small print. We feel that the times should have been made clear to us at the time we booked in and paid for our breakfast. As a result we had to leave being out of pocket for about £24 and having had no breakfast. Peter & Liz Davison

The staff were great. Very friendly and helpful.

The staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. It was comfortable and quiet. The pub was small and could have done with some comfortable seating. The only options were the hard chairs at the tables. So not very relaxing when staying for a long time. The pub food was typical, although there were limited vegetables with the options. Mainly just peas. The English breakfast was disappointing. The sausages and bacon weren’t good. The rest was okay. There was some fruit available, but more choice would have been good.

The village location was not the reason for choosing the accommodation just needed a nearby stopover to Plymouth for the night. That said the village is very small but well kept with nice church and little paved garden opposite the hotel with fishpond. Its in the middle of nowhere really but would suit walkers maybe. The hotel is more of an inn but is excellent value and has all you need with good pub food. Very quiet at night. Large carpark opposite hotel.

The welcome by Amanda was superb and we were given all the information needed. The room was small but alright for 1 night. The bar meal was excellent and the fire most welcome. The road to the village is quite narrow so care is needed. I would have to be specific about the breakfast content next time.

It's extremely isolated and difficult to navigate as the roads are narrower than the average car in a lot of places. The sat-nav had trouble in finding the only suitable route to Pillaton and would mostly take you on a wild 'goosechase' through a maze of desolate narrow lanes but not the via the only suitable route? Otherwise it's a nice quite village location.

The place, the menu, the staff and the accommodation was lovely. The friends I went with kept saying how good the place was and how I had picked well. It is pot look most of the time but this one is definitely one of the best we have stayed in
