I love the scenery, the wildlife, I'm a walker, so great walks, the town of oakham has everything u need, but what I like most is it's not commercialised, still a pretty little market town.i also used train & went to peterborough, the parking at the station was only £2.50 for the whole day. I had lunch one day at a lovely little cafe tucked in the corner of the market Square called Hungry Birds.

There are some pretty villages around in this area.

There are some pretty villages around in this area. Also, of course, Rutland Water is a great attraction, with walks, cycle rides and many water activities. Oakham itself has the remains of a castle with a tearoom.

Beautiful house in a very small village but not far from restaurants and sightseeing locations. The room was clean and beautiful and cozy, the bathroom clean and quite large. Our host provided all the things we could have needed. She was so welcoming friendly and helpful. The area had beautiful scenery it was a very relaxing and quiet evening. We only stayed one night but hope to return again soon.

Great location in centre of Oakham. Good parking, storage for bikes. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Lounge area very convivial - large armchairs, real fire, good whiskies. Characterful rambling hotel, with a hunting theme to the decor linked to the name. Excellent breakfast. Rooms comfortable and clean.

Great location lovely bar area will log fire, good breakfast but and it’s a big but, our radiator was off for the whole of our stay 4 times I asked and was completely ignored, the last attempt I was told there’s a electric heater in the wardrobe ( clearly a regular thing) the room was freezing, such a shame

as soon as you walk in the door it’s excellent. the only issue inside is I prefer a higher water pressure when I am taking a shower. best thing was the air conditioning, I was there during a heat wave and all of travel buddies complained about the hotels not having air.

The very kind chap from the restaurant next door. He was part of the hotel but it's an "unmanned" hotel, so I think he was covering for a manager (flood conditions in local area making travel difficult- that was my reason for having to book the hotel!)

Breakfast was not provided. Was it supposed to have been? This was not a hotel. It was just "rooms" that were difficult to find. I received no instructions on how to get into the room. The room was cold with no way of activating the radiator.
