The hotel was fine and good location. We had a bit of a payment issue and reception wanted to take a card off the employee we had sent to stay in the hotel. They then took payment form this card, even though we had organised through booking.com and a company card and all details were already taken and charged.
This was dealt with, refunded, and taken form the correct card but took a few phone calls and chasing on my end. I've not had this issue before.
All fine in the end, stayed an extra night due to work commitments, and allocated the same room at the last minute to avoid messing. Breakfast wasn't had but looked like a decent selection.
Staff friendly and mostly helpful.
Close to the Metro Centre, Newcastle Arena, Hadrian's Wall and the Northumbrian countryside, this hotel in leafy, suburban Jesmond is just minutes from the city centre.

I know North Shields well, it’s slowly been redeveloping and I’m wondering what will replace the wilko next in the beacon centre. My kids love this place. The fish quay further down the steep hill with plenty of fisheries, and fishing boats. A small beach that can overlook the ocean and sometimes the cruise ship. And the fact you can hop on a ferry that’ll take you into South Shields aswell.

The only negative is the entrance is on a main road at a junction but once inside the flat you are in a lovely calm space. Great for a family holiday and really comfortable to stay in. The area around the flat is well worth exploring. Lots of lovely parks and beautiful terraced streets.

Best place visited was Cragside near Morpeth. Wonderful house and massive grounds spent a whole day there. Went over to Holy Island and did the scenic coastal drive.

A trip down memory lane, North Shields has changed a lot over the past twenty or thirty years ( as all places do) but there are still little reminders of its history. A walk down the fish quay and onto the beach is refreshing and brings back many memories!
