Within easy driving distance of Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland, the magnificent spectacle of Lumley Castle has dominated the County Durham landscape for over 630 years.

It’s the perfect location, rooms are a little tired but clean and it sort of goes with the character of the castle.

Warm greeting by one of the hosts, excellent chance to ask any questions. No breakfast offered with this accommodation as the ground floor is a bar, 1st floor a restaurant but plenty of eating places very close by. Not an issue.

The room was very basic ,for us it was about location to where we were visiting family , you get what you pay for but will say our room was clean and bed comfortable, unfortunately we wouldnt recommend to friends as found the access to the rooms a steel staircase at the back of the pub not very pleasant.
