The Queen at Chester Hotel, BW Premier Collection, hotel in Ledsham

Located opposite Chester Station, The Queen at Chester, BW Premier Collection first opened in 1860, and offers grand Victorian-style rooms and free WiFi. The city centre is within walking distance.

The room we had was exceptionally small. It was in the corner of the building and to get to one side of the bed meant you had to navigate a small gap between the bed & the wall and the bed and the cupboard. Some lights were not working (one was fixed during our stay) The bathroom exhaust fan turned on when you just walked past the door so it had to be shut all the time to reduce the noise of the fan. The bed itself was very comfortable. The breakfast was also great. The staff - The one we had for checking wasn't that friendly. There was a girl also at reception who was serving another customer, was bubbly and cheerful. The bar staff could also take a lesson in Customer Service.... The position of the Hotel was good being only a 15min walk into the town area.

Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa, hotel in Ledsham

Spa use is included from check in to check out for guests enjoying a bed and breakfast, or dinner bed and breakfast package. Spa use is not included at any time when booking a room only rate.

My recent stay at this hotelwas a mix of great service and unexpected disturbances. The hotel boasts a stunning interior with an impressive lobby decent enough decorated rooms, and top-tier spa amenities. The staff were notably attentive and the dining options provided a lovely culinary experience. However, the hotel’s thin walls were a significant downside. Sound insulation appears to be lacking, as my 9 year grandaughter and I could hear conversations from neighboring rooms quite clearly. This was particularly problematic given the presence of amorous couples, making their private moments very public. It was quite uncomfortable and definitely not ideal for families with young children, as explaining the noises became a challenge of its own. In summary, while the Hotel offers a visually and pleasing experience, the lack of soundproofing can detract from the overall comfort and privacy. It’s a fantastic choice for those without young children or for travelers who don’t mind a lot of noise. However, families seeking a peaceful retreat might want to consider other options.

Restaurant and breakfast staff were cold age rude.

Restaurant and breakfast staff were cold age rude. The prices charged for the food were too high for the quality of the food. At dinner, the chips weren’t cooked and this was clear, the fish was also too fatty and cold. When this was raised with the waitress she was rude and unapologetic. At breakfast the staff seemed disorganised and chaotic. The sausage was fatty and poor quality, for the prices charged and the quality and variance of food on offer it wasn’t value for money. In addition, the thermal spa was meant to be included in the price. This wasn’t the case the spa staff again were not friendly, felt short changed.

Everything was really close and easy to get to ,Chester/...

Everything was really close and easy to get to ,Chester/Cheshire Oaks ,Ness Gardens and the boat museum were all approx. 15 minutes away. We only had food at the hotel we didn't feel the need to eat anywhere else as the portion sizes were above average and both breakfast and dinner were excellent .

Scenery and extremely friendly staff made a pleasant visit.

Scenery and extremely friendly staff made a pleasant visit. The room whilst requiring some attention was pleasant for the cost. One must be prepared for extra charges on some menu items (if offered). Not really suitable for the physically disabled for which we are,but one visitor was finding the stairs difficult even to the first level with less steep steps, We went up three levels and they became narrower and steeper as we progressed. The stay was enjoyable but we would not be returning to this location.

You need to go by car or arrange a taxi as it's out of the way. If you're looking for peace and quite it's a good place to go. For those who like nature there is a hidden gem called Burton Mere which is an RSPB reserve. There are gentle walks and lots to see. It has a little basic cafe. Entrance is just £6 and you can hire binoculars. You're not far from Chester and Liverpool if you want a day out. Also not too far from North Wales coast and New Brighton. West Kirby and Parkgate are also nice visits.

We had a very relaxing evening at Ledsham.

We had a very relaxing evening at Ledsham. The pool and Spa facilities were excellent. The staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant even in their very busy environment they took time to ensure our needs were met. The old mattress / bed , and the awful cooked food were spoilers . I complained about the food and was given a refund for the two dishes which were inedible. This was our first hotel stay in almost two years because of the pandemic, so we were happy to be there. It was unfortunate that we did not sleep well because of the mattress and did not eat properly because of the cooked food.

The breakfast was excellent and well cooked. The location was beautiful but I found the hotel hard to find. Tom the General Manager was very charming, friendly and helpful. He went out of his way to come and look for us in his car to escort us to the hotel when we got lost trying to find it. He is an exceptional and dedicated General Manager. In fact all the staff at the Inglewood Manor were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Room was great as was the food. We booked half board which basically included a voucher for £25 each to choose from the a la carte menu so evening meal wasn’t really included in the price, our meal was about £80 so we had to put £30 towards it. HB was £135 and B & B was £85 so there was no real benefit to booking HB.

The hotel managed to make us a booking for dinner despite being very busy. Booking dinner in advance is essential as the restaurant is limited in size and gets booked up. Both Breakfast and Dinner were excellent - The Chef did a great job. The building is beautiful and off the beaten track, which was perfect for a good nights sleep. Plenty of parking too!

Good car parking. Good meal at dinner. Check out staff were good. Servers at dinner were good. A goog looking hotel in a pretty setting. It looked as though it could be a good venue for weddings and perhaps is geared more to that market.
