Within easy driving distance of Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland, the magnificent spectacle of Lumley Castle has dominated the County Durham landscape for over 630 years.

Quebec is a little village, good for a peaceful stay. Cottage was an aged miners home which had been remodelled. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Lovely countryside around. Close to amenities in Langley Park. There is a tearoom in Quebec which looked good but we didn't have time to try it. Easy route in to Durham City.

The house was in a housing estate, but only a short walk to the local shops and the Indian restaurant which was very good. There were pleasant walks around Langley Park Old Rec and also the Wetlands. The areawas convenient for getting around to other places. There is a very interesting walk up to a pub, which was recommended at the top of the hill. Took about 20 minutes - including 185 steps - which I counted! The food was worth the climb.

The cottage was an ideal location for our weeks holiday. Nearest town was Lanchester which had a good range of shops. We went to Seaton Carew on the coast which was about an hours drive away. We parked inland for a walking trail (Waskerley Way) which was approx 25 mins from the accomodation. A lovely route with superb views.

A nice cottage with the usual quirks when staying in a strange property. The property is in a farm, therefore a car required. Not really any tourist places in the area but nice to find interesting villages etc. Due to lockdown there were no public houses in the area open for food. This would probably make a difference to those who eat out a lot. The property is nice, but some time in the future will require a bit TLC.
