A warm friendly atmosphere with lovely food. Far nicer than many corporate or large hotel chains. All food was slow to arrive but fabulous quality and clearly freshly cooked by a proper chef

Rowton Poplars Hotel, hotel in Kelsall

A 6-minute drive from Chester city centre, Rowton Poplars Hotel offers free Wi-Fi, ample parking and an on-site restaurant and bar.

Warm welcome from the guy who checked us in, he brought extra towels without us having to ask. Great facilities in the room. En suite, tea and coffee, toiletries. Clean and comfortable. Plenty of free parking. The room we got had a private entrance which was handy as we were staying with dog ( extra £20 per night for the dog) and was also handy for getting stuff from the car. We had a nice walk into chester down the canal, just over an hour's walk away or 10 mins drive. We didn't eat breakfast there but it looked reasonably priced and they even had a menu for the dog. We paid £40 on a Friday night over the bank hol. For the price point and the location you can't go wrong for this. 👍

Great location, was a very much loved property and it was very welcoming. Host was welcoming and gave a lot of finishing touches to make you feel welcome, including fresh products on Arrival. Would remains the blue plant aquarium around 15 minute drive away. It’s in the middle of most places. We visited the farmers arms for a few drinks and was a nice quiet place and nice beer garden.

Kelsall is a beautiful village, but the hotel provided inadequate standard of food. There was another hotel quite near and we ended up having our evening meal there for 2 evenings out of 3. The hotel needs to do something about the poor cooking at the Royal Oak Hotel. We recommend visiting the Anderson Boat Lift in Northwich. Had a wonderful time sailing down the river.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were very grateful that they managed to let us check in earlier than usual to allow us to deposit belongings before going to a wedding. Parking was in a good sized car park at the rear of the hotel. We asked for two rooms next door to each other and they provided these for us. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful!

We stayed in a lovely spacious room with a big bathroom! Staff were also all very friendly. Unable to comment on much else as we stayed for 1 night after a wedding at Nunsmere Hall (10 mins away from hotel) and didn't get breakfast the next day. Easy to get to and there was more than enough parking!
