Badgers Mount Hotel, hotel in Higham on the Hill

Set in one and a half acres of ground overlooking the Leicestershire countryside, this hotel has a south-facing patio so you can relax outside in warmer weather.

The food was DIVINE - we didn't feel the need to go out for lunch on a single night that we stayed there. We assume they must get locals eating there too - I know I would if I loved nearby. The staff were friendly, helpful, and informative. There was a bit of confusion regarding our rooms (I'd recommend calling them directly instead of booking through booking.com, it makes amendments FAR easier), but the staff member I spoke to called me back after about 15 minutes to inform me that everything was sorted. Minimal fuss! The rooms could maybe do with a bit of updating, (I'm not sure if they're in the process of doing this already?) but they were perfectly comfortable and I slept like a baby.

Millers Hotel by Greene King Inns, hotel in Higham on the Hill

Set in a converted bakery, this hotel has an on-site bar which serves real cask ales and features a working mill wheel and oak beams.

Room I was given was at entrance and almost no soundproof to people smoking outside talking and when people were entering/walking in with luggage on wheels the sound on the even floors were very noisy.

Lovely wee village but no shops, pubs or restaurants.

Lovely wee village but no shops, pubs or restaurants. It was OK for us as we were only staying 2 nights to attend a funeral in nearby Coventry. The accommodation was very good and the host Jim was very friendly and helpful

I booked this accommodation before it received comments that put me off. However having been at the property for the past three nights I can not understand why such comments have been left. I was not disappointed, the rooms were spotless, food excellent and the host a pleasure. The accommodation is a fantastic find and I would highly recommend it. If I am back in the area, I was will have no hesitation in booking again.
