George and Dragon, Alrewas, hotel in Hamstall Ridware

George and Dragon, Alrewas, a property with a garden, is situated in Alrewas, 21 km from Drayton Manor Theme Park, 26 km from Belfry Golf Club, as well as 34 km from StarCity.

The location was fine for us as we were visiting the NMA which we do every year at the beginning of May. We will be looking at booking for next years trip as soon as the dates become available. May even look into riding the bikes down next year as the car park seems to be quite secure. Food in the pub was grand as usual.

    Beautiful little village.

Beautiful little village. We didn't have time to stay and see anything other than the immediate vicinity of the pub, but it is very pretty and the staff gave us masses of information about the history of the pub and the neighbouring houses. The pub food was delicious, and an excellent menu that covers meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. We'll definitely be back!

The village is well off the beaten track but not actually very far from it. There is very little through traffic and only around 300 residents, so it is blissfully tranquil, and you soon rejoice at the amazing birdsong which abounds. The pub itself is everything a village pub should be. The three real-ale cask pumps served a village brew, a golden ale from Salopian, and Marston's pedigree from nearby Burton-on-Trent, Britain's Beer Capital. But it is NOT just for beer buffs. The wine selection is excellent - I had a delicious Barolo, a delicate Sancerre and some very quaffable Malbec at the lower end of the price scale. The pub seems to work its magic on all its customers as well as the staff, with everyone happy to have a chat, give advice or, if you would rather, leave you in peace. The sizeable pub garden has some play equipment for children and an outdoor skittles alley. It is surrounded by open farmland. I have praised the very high standards of the rooms, food, staff, and amenities, in my main review. This is the place to pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and re-charge your batteries. I imagine it would be very romantic as well for those in a romantic disposition.

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome.

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome. I requested flowers for my wife as a surprise as it was our wedding anniversary, couldn't have done it without the help of our hosts, flowers rose's and fantastic. Our room exceeded our expectations all very clean and comfortable and our bathroom complete with separate shower and spar bath. The restaurant offers a small but excellent selection of well cooked food and you NEED to book. It does get very busy which is hardly surprising when you consider the standard and locality. A very nice outside garden for those occasionally hot summer nights.

Rural hamlet, surrounded by farms. Approx 10 mins drive along country lanes to get to more populated areas - villages etc. Visiting family in nearby town. This was a really quiet place to return after busy days to relax.

Loved the size of the bed was comfy too.

Loved the size of the bed was comfy too. On suite bathroom was a bonus! Sofa super comfy too and even one recliner chair. Fully functioning kitchen with fridge freezer and washing machine. Could have eaten at the pub which was a 2 min walk away, but we were happy to cater for ourselves. We stayed here to visit the National Arboretum.
