Gretna Green is well worth a visit.
Gretna Green is well worth a visit. The area is lovely with nice courtyards which are well kept and shops selling local produce and Scottish gifts. There were quite a few weddings taking place while we visited the historic blacksmiths area. We also visited the outlet centre which had a lot of good shops and bargains to be had.

I could definitely recommend both The Gables Hotel & The Gretna Hall Hotel, although I only actually stayed in The Gables Hotel, but had food in both. The wedding reception was held in the Gretna Hall Hotel & the main meal was amazing.
Some wedding guests stayed further afield and didn’t sleep properly being near a noisy motorway.
The Blacksmiths was well worth seeing & it has an interesting history. Plenty of parking at the rear of the buildings.

Rooms clean , a little small . Windows don’t keep motorway noise out .Complained about noise in room at check out , they seemed not too care . Work being carried out on floor above early in the morning , drilling and banging . These rooms should not be used , wasnt warned about this . Very poor , Didn’t sleep at all well . Staff very friendly and attentive except on check out . Personally wouldn’t stay again

We had a breakdown of our car battery.
We had a breakdown of our car battery. Friends came to help us jumpstart. This was known in the reception. Still our friends received a parking ticket for 60£ !
I don't think we shall stay there again!
Had to make a stop off in Gretna Green at short notice on our way back from Scotland a day earlier than planned. Booked here giving an hour’s notice. Arrived to a friendly welcome. The owners (sorry I have forgotten their names but they were a lovely couple) gave us a bigger room than we had booked to ensure we had a good night’s sleep. They directed us to local places still open so we could get supper. The cooked breakfast in the morning was lovely. All in all had a wonderful experience.
We loved our stay ..it was only one night the room was absolutely beautiful and spotless however it was very small and if I was staying more than one night I think I would have needed something bigger as we felt very condensed but ok for one night.
The staff very friendly and over all the hotel is absolutely beautiful and spotless clean
Breakfast was amazing 😍
Will definitely be back ..but hopefully to a bigger room .
The Gables Hotel was great value for money. The children had their own room with single beds which was perfect. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. The bar area was lovely and the outside seating was a nice bonus too. Breakfast was good and nothing was too much trouble, all the staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming.
A really lovely hotel, food lovely, good buffet breakfast. Bed was comfortable, bathroom old but clean, staff very friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night because was a good location with only a2 hour drive to catch the ferry from Cairnryan. Price was good and breakfast cheap enough.
The welcome was warm.
Next to the hotel is a authentic pub where was offered food and drinks. The staff there care you.
The hotel is in walking distance to gretna green. But be aware gretna green is a tourist hot spot!!! To the Hadrians Wall you have to drive or to go by public transport.
The rooms were big and comfortable. Nice was the possibility to have a drink outside in the Garden or in front of the Hotel. Everything was very clean. Funny was the location; just on the other side of the Gretna Green village, where severl weddings took place that afternoon.
This was by far the cleanest ++, most comfortable ++, and most friendly hotel we have stayed in.

Hotel does what it says on the tin! Cheap stop off on the way up North. Newly refurbished rooms made our stay far more pleasant. The location is what you would expect for a hotel on the services.
Lovely greeting by very friendly host - Carolyn. Great room and facilities. Perfect location. Fantastic meal at the Gretna Hall Hotel on the opposite side of the road.
