The place was not like the picture on line. It looked as if it was abandoned except there was a note on the door with a phone number to call. We did this and a staff member came to open the building to show us to our rooms. The rooms looked clean enough but the carpets were very worn and decor was tired. The beds were clean and were not uncomfortable . The bath in one room had a shower over it but there was no hot water so impossible to take a shower. In the second room there was a shower cubicle but again no hot water and in fact there was insufficient water pressure to allow a shower to be taken. There was no breakfast but we were aware of this when I booked. Our vehicle was damaged whilst on the car park. we decided to leave as soon as possible the next morning. I think the castlegate arms would be suited to workers without high expectations of more than a bed for the night.
Really nice hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff.
Really nice hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent food and drink and a nice beer garden. Breakfast was one of the best I've had in any hotel I've stayed in. Highly recommended.
