Mallyan Spout Hotel, hotel in Goathland

The Mallyan Spout is a 19th-century country house set within picturesque gardens with views across the Esk valley. Just a short walk behind the hotel is Mallyan Spout waterfall.

We have been to Goathland on many occasions, but have never stayed here before and it was certainly a treat to do so. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed both afternoon tea and an evening meal in the hotel, both were delicious, which was good, as the evening meal is not cheap! Breakfast was plentiful, both continental and cooked, to set you up for the day.

Englefield Guesthouse, hotel in Goathland

Englefield Guesthouse, a property with a garden, is located in Goathland, 23 km from Dalby Forest, 30 km from Flamingo Land Theme Park, as well as 36 km from Peasholm Park.

Booked a last minute bank holiday break with my son to stay at the Englefield guest house this weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the moment we arrived, the property is stunning and in the perfect location right in the middle of goathland, a few steps away from the shops where they filmed heartbeat, round the corner from the station where they filmed Harry Potter and a 10 minute drive to Whitby. We were greeted by Liz and Steve who were the perfect hosts made us feel right as home & super welcome. Our room was stunning & so clean (we stayed in heartbeat) and the bathroom just across the hallway was gorgeous, also the best bed I’ve ever slept in! Comfy is an understatement. Steve gave us loads of advice on things to do and places to go which was very thoughtful as it was our first stay (won’t be our last) breakfast in the morning was perfectly cooked by Liz and was enjoyed in such a lovely space so bright looking out on a stunning view, The decor is quirky & just so fun too. Steve & Liz couldn’t do enough and I wish our stay was longer we didn’t want to leave. Thankyou for having us! We loved it. would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the area.

Granny's Attic at Cliff House Farm Holiday Cottages,, hotel in Goathland

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Granny's Attic at Cliff House Farm Holiday Cottages, is situated in Whitby, 27 km from Dalby Forest and 28 km from Peasholm Park.

The apartment is in a beautiful and picturesque location, very peaceful and quiet. The property is part of a small group of cottages with a little courtyard and horses in the adjoining field. It’s only a short drive to Whitby where we visited during the day and went out to eat in the evening. We found the location to be perfect. It’s furnished and decorated to a very high standard and the photos don’t do it justice. It was lovely and warm and we were very comfortable. The directions and information from the hosts was spot on and there’s a handy information folder too. We met the housekeeper in the morning and she was very friendly and happy, always a good sign imo. We really enjoyed our night in Granny’s Attic and would love to stay again if we are in the area.

Beautiful quirky scenic village with sheep roaming free.

Beautiful quirky scenic village with sheep roaming free. It is worth visiting for the steam trains, the Heartbeat connection and some lovely walks. If you stay it is a great base to explore the Whitby coastline.

    Beautiful village very relaxing.

Beautiful village very relaxing. Lots of little cafes and shops. We ate at the Inn on the Moor, the food was excellent with plenty of choice. The North Yorkshire Moor Railway runs through the station at Goathland. The station is lovely and takes you back in time to the days of steam railways. There are many walks around the moors from the village [long and short].

A wonderful part of the countryside, if you are looking for peace and quiet it's perfect quite a tourist attraction but doesn't spoil the atmosphere. So many places nearby to keep you occupied if you like, steam trains, wonderful scenery, lovely walks or a short drive to Whitby for fish and chips.

Goathland is a unique place, a virtual timewarp so reminiscent for me of growing up in the 1960s. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking and with places like Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay just a short drive away, it's an ideal location to be based. My wife and I have stayed at The Goathland Hotel twice now and there is still more to see in this wonderful part of Yorkshire so we hope to return to do just that.

Just the most beautiful countryside, amazing moorlands full of beautiful scenery and wildlife. It is a quick drive to bigger centres such as Pickering, Whitby and other local towns crammed with character. There are so many places to walk, waterfalls, little lanes and big hills. Fantastic location. The steam train is fabulous; definitely worth the trip to the end of the line to see the scenery. Get kippers in Whitby…

Absolutely brilliant 2 night stay - for 2 couples visiting on annual NYMR pullman dining train. Fantastic location - central position close to Goathland Station, shops and rail trail. Spotlessly clean accommodation - immaculate. Delicious breakfast. Gill and Dave are just lovely 😍 - the kindest and friendliest hosts, which made our stay very special ( Mum and Dad loved it). It was just like staying with your favourite family members. Can't wait to return again.

The hotel has clearly undergone some refurbishment and the rooms are very pleasant and extremely comfortable. The hallways and public areas are a little more dated in appearance but still comfortable and clean. Food at dinner was good, and the breakfast was excellent, although they would benefit from using fresh bread instead of processed bread. The staff were all very pleasant and the lady we dealt with at reception was very accommodating.

Everything. Right from the warm welcome when we arrived to the long goodbye as we left, Gill and Dave are lovely hosts who made us feel like part of the family! Breakfast cooked to order and done perfectly. Beautiful room which was incredibly clean. WiFi was a nice touch, we didn't use it very much but it worked well when we did. We were given tips on the village and local attractions, including the pub down the road!

We loved it, this hotel was exceptional, from walking through the door when we arrived to leaving the following morning. The room was cosy, bed very comfortable and the food in the hotel was fabulous. Every staff member was clearly well-trained and really bothered about doing their best for the guests. It is in a stunning location and the attention to detail is amazing too.

There is nothing not to like about the property and staff. From the moment we entered the hotel, nothing seemed to be too much trouble and all the staff were so friendly. Having 2 labradors can sometimes be an issue but in the room they had there doggie welcome packs and doggie breakfast too. The hotel is a credit to the owners and staff and have already booked for next year

Fabulous accommodation in a fantastic location. Goathland and the North Yorkshire Moors looked stunning. The Guest house had the most gorgeous Christmas decorations - which made it feel really comforting and Christmassy especially with the snowy weather. Superb hosting by Peter. Room was spotlessly clean and spacious. Delicious breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
