I was on the opposite side of the building from the road. It was Very quiet. Car park was out of the way and sufficient for guests. Good towels, good shower - didn’t feel “budget”.

Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see.
Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see. Good transport links to other towns - Worcester and Tewkesbury. Docks area is attractive with restaurants, bars etc. and the area around the cathedral has some nice shops, tea rooms etc.

It’s very easy to reach Gloucester from the hotel especially if you like shopping at the Gloucester Quays. Found it very handy to get to Stroud and Painswick as well and the M5 motorway.
I personally wouldn’t use the bistro pub for meals at the Gloucester quays- the high orchard. Microwave meals with the wrong prices still in the menus and bar staff manager who couldn’t give a toss.
Cheltenham is nice to eat in if you fancy a day out and lots of dog friendly places too.

We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.
Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place

Gloucester and the people are wonderful and friendly.
Gloucester and the people are wonderful and friendly. The views are amazing, if you live in the city and want a break this is the place to visit. The designer outlet is amazing too full great products at great prices.
the husband & wife team proved to be a charming couple. Breakfast (cooked by the wife) was excellent the full Monty consisted of 2 eggs, sausage, rashers of bacon, tomatoes, beans and toast. Tea & fruit juice as normal. My room was very clean and comfortable and the bed comfortable. I have no adverse comments to make and I would certainly recommend the hotel. The cost per room, the cleanliness, the food were all of a very high standard.
The hotel was set in beautiful surroundings. Easy access to Gloucester, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds. Staff were very attentive. Small niggles were resolved promptly. Staff adhered to Covid prevention measures. For the standard of accommodation the price was very competitive. The room was very quiet as requested, and the bed was large and comfortable. Bathroom was clean with a powerful shower.
I love this place. It is literally my favourite place to stay in the UK. I travel to Gloucestershire regularly for business and have stayed in many hotels in the area. This one is the best by far. The staff are wonderful, the spa is amazing, the rooms are very comfortable, the food in the restaurant is incredible and they even have electric car charging! It's honestly the perfect hotel for me!
Its a quirky hotel, steeped in history. I really liked my room at the front on the first floor. The floorboards creaked and were at a slight angle sloping from the door - which you'd expect of a building of this vintage. Its located right in the middle of Gloucester - so walking to all the main attractions are no more than minutes away. Staff were friendly and very attentive. All good!
I didn't pay a lot of money for this stay. The Room was a little basic, but just about big enough. It had a decent shower. The Breakfast Room was OK with a decent selection of foods (like corn flakes and toast) which you can access at anytime. There was Free Parking available opposite the Hotel. Overall, you get what you pay for and this budget accommodation was exactly that !
Our room was dated but very clean, the common parts not so clean but staff reacted quickly to spillages etc. The main plus for this Hotel is that the staff were very helpful and accomodating. There was a great atomosphere in the bar after the Gloucester/Bath Rugby match. I would recommend for a one or two night stay. The Hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Quays.
Very happy with the facilities, check in and location of the hotel. Did the job for an overnight stay to see Gloucester RFC at Kingsholm, walking distance to the ground! Very clean room, a fridge and other amenities made my stay simple, easy and great value for money. Many thanks to all the staff there.
Location was excellent for me. Not far from where I had to get to. I didn't stay long enough to take advantage of the facilities as I had to get up early but I was pleased with everything about the hotel. So much I booked up to return at the end of the month.
Typical Holiday Inn room. Large television screen. Correct bathroom but a little small. Breakfast ok. Hotel located on the outskirts of Gloucester which allows you to visit the city (15 minutes drive), visit the Costwolds, or dine Chetenham near the center.
The Spalite Hotel is perfectly located in the city center of Gloucester — makes it super easy to get to the nice areas around the docks/quays, which are literally just around the corner. The owner was super nice and the hotel room was cozy.
Breakfast was excellent, dinner meals excellent, room was large and comfortable, very clean. Love the old building and pub. I would recommend you stay here if looking around Gloucestershire area.
The hotel was so expensive that I thought I was in for a good treat. Alas it was a 2-star experience overall. Location was so far away; room was quite small for even one guest 😡😡
Great hotel. very clean rooms, great location, easy parking, breakfast great and staff very friendly. value for money. Would definitely return when in Gloucester again
