Mallyan Spout Hotel, hotel in Glaisdale

The Mallyan Spout is a 19th-century country house set within picturesque gardens with views across the Esk valley. Just a short walk behind the hotel is Mallyan Spout waterfall.

We have been to Goathland on many occasions, but have never stayed here before and it was certainly a treat to do so. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed both afternoon tea and an evening meal in the hotel, both were delicious, which was good, as the evening meal is not cheap! Breakfast was plentiful, both continental and cooked, to set you up for the day.

Your staff are very welcoming, helpful and generally happy people, makes one feel good from that alone. Your chef is worth a Michelin star, the soup and trout and panne cotta - I’ll come back for that alone!

Duke Of Wellington Inn, hotel in Glaisdale

The Duke of Wellington is an ivy-clad traditional eighteenth century inn located in Danby, near Whitby. The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the Moors, Whitby and the coast.

Was touring around with my motorcycle. It was not a problem to find me safe off-road parking. The lady behind the bar was very accommodating and made me feel at home right from check-in. The food was excellent and reasonable priced. The room was well presented and very clean. Bed was comfortable and made for a good night's sleep after a long ride.that day. Breakfast was included in the price and was to the same standard as I came to expect. Well done, guys you will go on my list to revisit. THANK YOU .

Beautiful little village nestled in the dales, I only stayed one night, but the area really was beautiful, lovely round the bridge very lose to the Arncliffe Arms. My stay was to take photos in Whitby which I did but came back early to enjoy a drink at the pub.

The surroundings, it’s beautiful countryside. Train and bus service just round the corner. Great food, excellent hosts, basic rooms but clean and everything you need. Breakfast excellent . Just 10 miles from Whitby. No noise from the pub in my room. Very hilly by foot and car but stunning views.

Admittedly, on the two occasions I've stayed here, I haven't explored the village itself much or the surrounding area. I've spent most of the day in between visiting Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (one of many activities that you, the reader, could get up to, should you decide to visit also). It is, however, easy enough to get around, the Arncliffe Arms is a great restaurant in terms of food quality (especially if you're staying there) and the Beggar's Bridge near the railway station is one place in particular that makes a tranquil retreat if your interest isn't necessarily transport focused. So, by all means, do try it out and see what you think.

One of numerous villages scattered among the Moors.

One of numerous villages scattered among the Moors. Good centre for walking and getting to Whitby, "Aidensfield" (goathland),the Esk and the woods and moors. Built of typical stone and somewhat lowering in the rain on the "rare ?" occasions when it rains.

The only facility we used in Glaisdale was the local pub for an evening meal. on driving through it, it is a beautiful village. You do need a car though to get anywhere, but was perfect for our needs.

The location was very near to Heartbeat country and is surrounded by beautiful scenery and the moors. The pub itself is busy with a great atmosphere. My room was a bit small but clean and comfy. Breakfast was in the bar and was very nice, served by a cheerful lady. I arrived late in the evening, after the kitchen had closed, but they offered to rustle something up for me if i wanted . I didn't but it was a nice gesture

Everything! The area is beautiful and tranquil, but also has transport link up and down the Esk Valley (the bus actually stops outside the pub). Plenty of walks through the countryside too. The staff are lovely, the room was clean and tidy with a fantastic view, and the bar was like a proper locals pub but was still welcoming. The food was outstanding, especially the Sunday lunch.

The property was absolutely perfect, we really loved staying here for 2 nights and had a wonderful time visiting Rievaulx Abbey (on the way), Danby Lodge (nearby) and Rosedale (on the way back). We had a lovely meal at the Wheatsheaf at Egton. We also enjoyed walking down the village to Beggar's Bridge (by the railway station), though note that it is quite a steep climb back up.

Great location in a quiet Yorkshire village, views from the garden were wonderful. The welcome guide gave lots of good local information and recommendations. Both beds were comfortable and the cottage was well equipped. It was a nice touch to leave firewood for the two wood burners but as it was warm, we did not need to use them.

We booked the Green specifically so that we could go walking on the moors. The location is great. Simon met us at the property and recommended shops/ restaurants and stuff nearby, which was brill - very many thanks. Really relaxed, pretty remote/ quiet location - good WiFi (which impressed the kids!) - would definitely recommend.
