What a beautiful part of Scotland!

What a beautiful part of Scotland! It was both relaxing and peaceful. There were different things you could do and fantastic places to eat and grab a drink. The dolphin watching was also very fun and different. Crofter’s was one of our favorite food places. Everyone we met were friendly and helpful.

Fortrose is a beautiful village with historic buildings and the main attraction is the opportunity to spot dolphins at Chanonry Point. There are pubs and restaurants as well as the beach at Rosemarkie within walking distance of the village.

Fortrose and the nearby villages Rosemarkie and Cromarty are...

Fortrose and the nearby villages Rosemarkie and Cromarty are some of the most interesting architecturally, historically and environmentally on the Black Isle. While Fortrose is known for the 'dolphin show' at Chanonry Point the town itself is well worth the visit. The ruined cathedral and surrounding area is very interesting and many of the properties are on a grand scale reflecting Fortrose's former importance as an early medieval Christian religious centre. Fortrose is served by a few good places to eat (check opening days and times however) and a well stocked Co-op is the only main shop for essentials (and the extra holiday wine if required).

We only spent one night in Fortrose, after travelling up from Dromnadrochit, but we did walk out to Chanonry Point, with our dog :) on a beautiful Autumn late afternoon/early evening and were lucky enough to spot dolphins and witness an absolutely stunning sunset. It was just beautiful. Then we settled into the Old Orchard, had a very welcome bath, before heading out to eat at the lovely IV10. All in all, a perfect 24 hours!

The cottage is lovely and had everything we needed. The location is excellent to explore Rosemarkie and Fortrose. There is a lovely garden and it would be really nice in Summer. The upstairs bedrooms are really nice and there is a smaller room on the ground floor with bunk beds with a shower room close by. There was a supply of logs to light the fire and we did use them all over the 2 days as it was very cold. I would recommend this property and would stay again.

The Host and Hostess, Steve and Fiona were very helpful and kind. They have a beautiful home and location for a B&B. My daughter and I felt very much at home. They shared with us many places to visit while we were in Fortrose for the 2 days we stayed with them. It was very quiet and relaxing. We loved their lil dog Broxy too. We all watched him race a very large Hare in their field. The Hare won of course, but Broxy gave it his all.

The house was very clean, and very well presented, with a private garden at the back, located in a very quiet area, with friendly neighbours, and only a short distance from a grocery store, and places to eat. We had a great time, and would highly recommend this property for a holiday in Fortrose, and indeed for other places,as Inverness, and elsewhere, are only a short drive away. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Oh my gosh, it was such a pleasant stay. Beautiful accommodations and best value in Scotland. Our hosts, Guthrie and Horst were delightful! The location was spectacular! Right next to a golf course and right by the water. 5 minute walk to the lighthouse and watch for dolphins! Self serve breakfast can be eaten inside or outside by their garden area.

The house was in a perfect location, accessible to Fortrose either by foot (if you can manage walking up a steep hill) or by car. It had all the amenities needed for the weekend plenty of utensils in the kitchen (which is very rare). The bedrooms were of good size and clean. And the garden and house gave wonderful views out onto the firth.

There was a perfect house for my family of 5 people including my little girl, we’ve experienced two wonderful nights staying at Fortrose. The house located very close to the Chanonry Point. It’s very tidy and clean inside, and you almost can find anything you need here. I highly recommend staying here if you intend to pass this area!

Lovely peaceful location. Great hospitality. Comfortable, cosy and good food. Beware we approached from the North and sat nav seemed to be confused, so check the location carefully especially if arriving on a bike. Best way is to approach up the hill from Fortrose rather than sticking to the cycle route. It's a good place though.

Lovely property very close to the harbour in Fortrose. Very well looked after - it looked like the owners had recently redone the painting and new carpets. Interesting design ideas. Lovely wood burning stove which came in very handy on a chilly afternoon. Good views over the harbour and the bay. Absolutely ideal for a couple
