We ate in the Orangery (a beautiful sunny room) rather than the restaurant, where our dog was allowed, Food and service were excellent. We were provided with dog towel, blanket and bowls (£15 per night for the dog) and parking was really close so it worked perfectly.

As we were staying to attend a wedding at Clearwell castle, we didn’t get to use the facilities of the hotel this time but were impressed with what we saw. The room was fine , plenty of comfy bedding towels etc and nice bathroom
Very mixes businesses. Cafe was excellent. . Hotel Globe Inn, for dinner had far from friendly staff who did not volunteer obvious information and the staff member rude. It was like we were intruding on the locals. On another evening at a different hotel we were abruptly told, "kitchen is closed". It was a Wednesday. We had walked a mile to get to this pub which was full of locals drinking. We wearily walked away toward another pub but one of the gentlemen who had witnessed what happened pulled up beside us and gave us a lift to the one that was serving meals.*

Sadly, the shops were shut and some permanently closed.
Sadly, the shops were shut and some permanently closed. I should imagine it was a thriving town once. Couldn't see much in the way of entertainment but close to other places of interest. Taxi service although they all offered different prices to the same place?

The general area and the woodlands were fantastic.
The general area and the woodlands were fantastic. However, the town of Coleford was very disappointing. It had a run-down feel about it with not a lot to see or do. The tourist information was very helpful.
Symonds Yat Rock was incredible with superb views, well worth a visit. The Arboretum has a lovely walk with beautiful trees. The Sculpture trail was well worth doing and professionally laid out.
A visit to the City of Gloucester is well worth doing, especially the renovated old docks area.

This lovely hotel, is perfect, for all age ranges, it has something for everyone. The staff, really make you feel, very welcome and are so very helpful, this gives the hotel, a lovely friendly feel, which makes all the difference, to a travellers experience.
The property is in the centre of Coleford so once you park you can explore easily on foot. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel so you do not need to go far in the evenings. The rooms have tea making facilities, en-suite, closet space and are a reasonable size. The rooms are on the upper 2 floors and accessible by stairs only. Breakfast is included and the selection, while not massive, is very nice. You state exactly what you want so there is no waste.
Nothing,staff rood .room appalling.
1st receptionist horrible but next receptionist gave us a better room and was lovely.
Area not what advertised.
Restaurant is a bowls club .
Gardens not as advertised.
Worst hotel I ever stayed in , a travel lodge would of been better than that dump.
No where else to go except bowls club and watch football.
Not even a 1star hotel in our opinion.
Surprised booking.com even sell there rooms
Perfect location in the centre of coleford. We stayed for a wedding in ghe Castle. Which was only an £8 10 min taxi ride away.
This hotel has loads of period features and kept this consistent thru its decoration.
We had a full choice of breakfast offered to us as we checked In and could choose a ti.e suitable for us.
Breakfast was lovely in an airy room looking into town.
I would not hesitate to stay here again
This was our 3rd stay at the cottage. It is a beautiful cottage and has everything you could want. Its lovely to sit outside and watch the birds in the garden. It's a short drive from Coleford where there are several small supermarkets. It's around 15 minutes drive to some of the main attractions in the Forest such as Cannop ponds and cycle hire, Beechenhurst and the Arboretum.
Location was great for exploring the Forest of Dean Area.
Very quiet and peaceful.
Property was spacious and very well equipped, plenty of fresh towels, kitchen essentials etc.
Plenty of storage space and drawers. Lots of plug points in handy places.
The lodge had a smart tv with Netflix and WiFi was excellent throughout.
The lodge was warm and comfortable.
Excellent choice from buffet or individually cooked items for breakfast. Varied menu in orangery for dinner.
Mask wearing encouraged and tables well separated.
Excellent location in heart of Forest of Dean, with nearby Sculpture Trail providing a particular attraction.
Interesting dining room in Verderers Court.
Staff all very friendly and helpful.
It was immaculate with many thoughtful touches. The host had provided everything we might need including milk and butter in the fridge and a loaf of bread. The property was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Coleford was a good base for exploring the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley and there were plenty of good places to eat nearby.
A great hotel in the middle of the Forest of Deam. Easy driving access to sites within the Forest and historic sites along the Welsh border including Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle, and Chepstow Castle. The food was excellent in both the Orangery and Verderer's Restaurant. The room was great with a living area and separate bedroom.
A beautifully finished flat in Coleford. Very cosy, comfortable and well equipped. We really appreciated the lovely Christmas decorations placed around the flat too. It was ideal for a Christmas holiday stay. Near Clearwell caves and Perrygrove children's railway. Our little boy had a magical time at "The Christmas House".
fantastic quirky house, very tastefully decorated, comfortable and spacious, dishwasher, washing machine plus a sauna!! Owner very helpful. great for cycling, Forest of Dean, adventures, walking in Coleford, lovely little town with all you need.
The staff were lovely throughout the hotel, there was a problem with the hot water but we were notified on arrival and offered another room but we didn't need it as our water was hot by the time we returned from our days activities.
Perfectly positioned for exploring Coleford and the Forest of Dean. Lovely quiet location with nice views, and 5 minutes walk from the town centre. The hosts were extremely kind and went above and beyond expectations
