The Mansefield Hotel, hotel in Fochabers

Based in the former cathedral city of Elgin, The Mansefield Hotel is surrounded by rolling hills and vibrant glens.

Breakfast was excellent. Cooked to order and piping hot. We had a hangover on the Sunday, so put a do not disturb on the door, then went out in the afternoon. When we came back from our day out, they had sneaked in and everything was back to new. Lovely surprise, as thought the cleaners would have been done for the day. Fresh bottles of water in our fridge each day was a lovely treat.

I stayed there only for one night in order to be close to my visit to Glen Grant distillery and the whisky trail in the area. But the place was lovely and I could spend a couple of days more there, visiting lovely villages, beaches and castles nearby.

Although great view of the ocean you really couldnt access the beach. Not the best due to being a stoney beach no good for children or dogs as you couldn't get down to the waters edge. Far better beach at Lossiemouth and Hopeman

A very good base for exploring Speyside or the coast or going on the Whisky Trail. Interesting selection of small shops - Tourist and quality Scottish souvenirs - Antique shops - Fabric and haberdashery (which is now difficult to find in the city) - Cafe / ice-cream parlour - local history museum - interesting walks.

Countryside at its best - flowing great salmon rivers, the sea, inland country walks on the moors of northern Scotland. Close to landmarks and Elgin city. Mountain bike trails just along the road. Go for it

Nice wee town, quiet and sleepy now that it's bypassed, But it has a superb ice cream parlour. Worthy of a wee wander around and there are many nice walks from the centre, including along the Speyside Way.

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It also stayed nice and cool on the hot days. The breakfast options were nice and simple and the fry up was done to perfection. The location was fantastic so close to so many beautiful places to visit and Fochabers is absolutely beautiful. What I loved the most were the staff, they were brilliant, nothing was a problem and they were so friendly and cheerful it made my stay even better. They are also a dog friendly hotel. I will definitely be making a return visit.

Our second stay at Orton Estate Fochabers and loved it! Great cottage for a family with teenage kids who are looking for something different other than staying in a family room in a hotel. Clean, comfortable and a beautiful location. We used it as a base for visiting family in Elgin but there’s loads to do in the area. Definitely recommend and would love to come back in the winter time to use the log burner.

Breakfast was at a different hotel due to staff shortages but it was only 2 minutes down the road and it was nice to get a wee walk before breakfast. Breakfast was fine but the quality of sausage could have been better. Bacon etc were all fine. Room was large and spacious with plenty of storage. Bathroom and shower area were great. Staff were fantastic.

This was very central to Fochabers but also in a quiet area, easy parking, the accommodation was spotlessly clean , and very warm , we had our 2 dogs and within easy walking distance to the river , the butchers shop is across the road with great quality and reasonable price

Everything about The Red Lion Tavern exceeded my expectations. This hotel would show most luxury hotels how to “ do it right”, from polite, friendly staff to a lovely room, all at a very reasonable price.
