Not one for negative reviews but this place was the pits! So I arrived in the ‘car park’ which was some run down garages. After parking I witnessed a couple of lads in a bmw doing a drug deal. Thought I’d wait to go in until they left… on entering reception/the pub I thought I’d walked in on a scene in shameless. I looked around for Frank Gallagher passed out on the floor.. no luck. I headed to the bar to check in. Some blonde bird was screaming and shouting on the phone arguing with her fella to my left. Anyway carried on waiting.. she’s then shouting to what must be the landlady ‘I love your tits’. Eventually the landlady gives me my key and some bloke at the bar shows me to my room. Heading upstairs all I could see was cracks in the walls and the place falling apart. Gets in my room sat down. Next thing there’s commotion outside. Look out the window and there’s a group of people and cars in the road. 2 women proceed to fight each other, couple of fellas standing round like lemons. Cars blocking the road whilst one pulls the other’s hair. On a positive the room had a kettle and complimentary biscuits etc so I made a tea and watched the drama outside. Once that all finished, I heard music getting louder from the pub. I nipped down and the place was packed with pissed up locals. Thought great going to sleep well here. Went back up and luckily I was second floor up so got a few hours. Tbf the bathroom was relatively ‘modern’ minus the mouldy bits round the edges. Left and couple other guests looked traumatised running out of the place. If there’s one thing I learnt is you pay for what you get!! I was smug thinking I’d got a good deal for a hotel whilst my friends staying in Bath were paying £200+ for theirs. Anyway if you want any advice I’d say knock the place down, awful!

Stayed April 6/7. Room was lovely, spotlessly clean, quiet despite being on the back of a pub. King size bed was very comfy, lovely linen. Tea and coffee in the room. The highlight was the breakfast, cooked by one of the sisters (apologies I can’t remember your name) and was outstanding.

Greeted as we arrived, Shown to our self contained self catering part of the Old Parsonage. A number of starter items were included like fresh milk, cereal selection, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and the best thing of all freshly home baked muffins x 6. The bedding was of such high quality it ensured a great nights sleep. Would we stay here again? 100% yes we would.

It was very well situated, pretty much directly in the middle of all the places we wanted to visit. Bristol, Bath, Wookey, Cheddar, Wells and Glastonbury were all places we went to, all of which were easy journeys from Farington gurney and were about 20-30 minutes by car. There were also very useful bus routes from Farrington Gurney to places such as Bristol and Bath which we did use. It is a small and quiet town but has several places around to get food and drinks etc.

This was a 3 night leg of a uk week away instead of a Greek island. Hotel was situated in beautiful countryside a short drive away from Bristol and Bath. The room was spotless with a super comfy bed and soft pillows. The bathroom was massive and there was a lovely pampering cupboard full of little beauty goodies to use. Such a lovely unexpected touch!
Breakfast was incredible- full English plus freshly ( warm out of the oven ) baked pastries and muffins . Thank you to James and Emilie for being so welcoming . Very relaxing !
The manager of the place, who is also the owner, was the only staff member we met,
He was charming, welcoming and kind.
The hotel was in royal style.
The breakfast was tasty, rich and indulgent.
The room had a coffee machine which was a significant bonus.
A short walk from the hotel, we found a lovely pub to have dinner at.
Most beautiful hotel. The rooms were so comfortable, clean and had everything you needed. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of options. Even received a goody bag of the food we didn’t eat! The staff were so lovely and chatty. Great location, plenty of restaurants near by. We will definitely be back.
The place is absolutely fantastic. Our hosts were super friendly. The breakfast was undeniably the best breakfast i've ever had supplied from a hotel or BnB. They made us freshly baked banana loaf and we were even allowed to take it home. Simply out of this world!
Historic building in lovely condition. Good parking. Fantastic breakfast. Things provided in bathroom which would not even expect in a 5 star hotel. Safe provided in room. Owner was extremely friendly and very proud of the place with an excellent manner.
The old parsonage is one of the best privately owned hotels we have stayed at,
The owner's look after your every need, and very good value for money,
EXCELLENT
