The Priory Hotel, hotel in East Stoke

With open views of the surrounding Dorset countryside, The Priory Hotel is nestled within 4 acres of English cottage gardens beside the River Frome.

Beautiful, small country hotel occupying an ancient Priory, set in superb gardens by the River Frome, yet within easy walking distance of the attractive town of Wareham. The gardens alone are worth travelling to visit. The hotel itself is full of character and is beautifully furnished throughout. It also has modern amenities, in particular in the form of a very nice restaurant overlooking the gardens and river. The room we occupied was very comfortable and had a modern ensuite shower room with an excellent walk-in shower. The hotel staff were, without exception, friendly and efficient.

Limestone Hotel, hotel in East Stoke

Nestled in the quiet village of West Lulworth, Limestone Hotel is a stylish country house with free parking, a restaurant, and easy access to both Dorset countryside and the Jurassic coastline.

The breakfast was lovely and because we stayed in the hideaway we had it served to our room in the tree tops. My husband particularly liked the smoothies. The room was stylish and comfortable. The location is just a short walk to Lulworth cove which suited us perfectly. The garden was very well cared for and we enjoyed taking it in.

Cottars, hotel in East Stoke

Situated in Winfrith Newburgh and only 8.5 km from Monkey World, Cottars features accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking.

The location of the B&B is great! Lovely view when having breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was great, toast and croissants with ham and cheese, fresh eggs and honey and marmalade. Yogurt and cereal was available, too. We explored Lulworth and the coast, which took only 10min to get there by car. Irene and Vince were very hospitable, we had some nice chats with them before we left. Would always come back :)

It was nice, but you really need to be a golfer to fully appreciate the Dorset Resort Hotel (it was very nice and comfortable, friendly staff, good breakfast etc.), although we thought we would be staying in a separate lodge, but that's only for 4 people or more, so the website was misleading in that respect.

For me, it was the property's proximity to Monkey World but of course it's a lovely part of the country & there are many places to visit nearby. I don't play golf any more but for golfers it must be a treat. The course looks great & the facilities are excellent.

Monkey World and Clouds Hill (for Lawrence of Arabia fans)...

Monkey World and Clouds Hill (for Lawrence of Arabia fans) are the two attractions that brought us here but there are other activities nearby which may be equally interesting, Purbeck Shooting Club, the gliding club and obviously the Tank Museum, all just about within walking distance of each other. There are few other facilities around however, and I would have thought a car is necessary for these. We also explored the Higher Hyde Heath nature reserve but because of the weather conditions we did not have the opportunity to see much of it.
