Breakfast was very good, the owner and staff welcoming and helpful. Anyone looking for an "olde-worlde" type lodging would be satisfied with this place, but it has the usual mod-cons, wi-fi, tea and coffee in the room, ensuite shower-room etc.
Offering a restaurant, Tarr Farm Inn is located in Liscombe. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a minibar. There is also an electric kettle.

Lovely rural location by the Tarr Steps. Dog-friendly b&b, with a useful little entrance area between our rooms (3&4) which served as a space to wipe dog paws and keep coats and leads, etc.
Breakfast was very tasty - lovely sausages.

A thatched cottage right by the river, and my room (no 10) overlooked the river and the bridge. The river is so picturesque, and sitting in the garden in the sun was wonderful after such a long drive from Yorkshire.
The room was nice and tidy, not expensive in its fittings etc, and that suited me.
My room was in the roof space (watch your head if you are tall) and was fairly warm, probably due to the thatch keeping the heat in.
Also the cooked breakfast was very nice.
Enjoyed all of my 2 night stay, and was very good value.
Nice and quiet countryside setting. Great for self-catering apartments, but no local shops. Bit of a drive (to Tiverton) if you wanted to eat out. Watch out for the single lane local roads, often with high hedges either side. Anstey used to have a train station and sign is still there, but it was closed in the 60's with all the other local closures. wild foxgloves are great in the summer.

It's a pretty small village.
It's a pretty small village. Not much to do, but the surrounding area is full of places to walk, attractions and other things to do. It's a short journey to Dulverton, which a very attractive little town and of course, Exmoor is just up the road. Not great for the beaches (too far to drive), but spot on for walkers, who want a quiet base to explore North Devon and Somerset.
