We were greeted with a lovely tray of tea & delicious home...
We were greeted with a lovely tray of tea & delicious home baked treats upon arrival in a lounge outside our room! Such a cozy peaceful stay Lovely ensuite room We felt so at home Wonderful full breakfast & sweet friendly hosts! Love their accents too A hotel on a side street in Dumfries served an excellent lunch, only place open! But lovely surprise, wish I could remember the name! Great visit to John Paul Jones museum & garden as well

Dunscore is a quiet village set in rural Dumfries and Galloway. Nearby village Moniaive has more facilities including a great Italian restaurant. Dumfries, the county town, is a short drive away for all main shopping and amenities. This is an area for people who crave a quiet rural lifestyle holiday away from tourist crowds. Attractive mountains, historic rural villages and quiet beaches are all within a short day trip, and walking routes start at the front door!

We didn't visit the village as it was a place to pass through on the search for attractions and facilities, although the accommodation is in easy reach of the main roads and the quietness is a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle and traffic queues, even the potholes add a charming character to the roads and remind you that you are in the countryside, where other things take precedence. As the hosts were so welcoming, it is just a pure pleasure to be in this part of South West Scotland.Julian and HeatherUnited Kingdom
