Heacham Manor Hotel, hotel in Docking

Heacham Manor Hotel is a Grade II listed Country House set in picturesque gardens with an 18-hole golf course and an award-winning restaurant, just 1.5 miles from Hunstanton.

The Manor is a beautiful place to stay. So peaceful, most of the time. It is set in some wonderful green space. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast both mornings we were there and it set us up for the day. There was a range of hot and cold choices. You helped yourself to the cold whilst they took your order for your hot food. You could have cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast with a variety of spreads, tea, both traditional and fruit flavoured, coffee from the machine, again various choices. The hot part was a choice of full English, salmon and scrabbled eggs on granary toast, bacon or sausage sandwich, plus a couple of other choices. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Spotlessly clean, house keeping came in both days. The Manor is just a short walk to Hunstanton, over the golf course and through Searles caravan and camping site. It took us about half hour to walk there. We will definitely visit again.

The Rose & Crown, Snettisham, hotel in Docking

Set in Snettisham, 14 km from Houghton Hall, The Rose & Crown, Snettisham offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

On approach a delightful old pub at the roadside with appropriate roses growing up the walls! It was all I had hoped for - lovely room (with a bath!), good food, pleasant friendly staff and easy parking. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We appreciated the option of fresh coffee in our room & being able to access fresh milk.

The Railway Inn served excellent steak and other meals, very friendly. The Spar shop and post office has long opening hours, friendly staff and a wide variety of everything. The fish and chip shop is excellent.

Docking makes for an excellent location to base yourself when exploring the north Norfolk coast. The property is in a great location with safe parking. The hosts left a very generous selection of essential foods (unfortunately we did not take full advantage as we're vegan and had not informed the hosts before hand.) there is very limited shopping close by so take your supplies in if self catering, there is a same Spar shop and a friendly pub, The Railway Arms which does nice pub food.

Docking is a lovely village, just 4 and a bit miles from Brancaster, and the North Norfolk coast. We found the local amenities were very good, as there is a Spar shop, and also an excellent Fish & Chip shop near to the property we stayed in. Fakenham is only a short drive away for a larger shop if needed. A very peaceful place.
