The Merchant's Yard, hotel in Curbar

Set in Tideswell, 12 km from Buxton Opera House, The Merchant's Yard offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

We had an excellent stay at the Merchants Yard for my partners birthday. Very clean and modern, the special touches were appreciated. The breakfast was delicious, and we had food in the evening which was also superb. All staff were fabulous, and explained everything and looked after us. We booked the hotel for the electric charging facility, and were impressed to be given our own allocated space. Tideswell is very peaceful and a great location to walk to Millers Dale, and easy to drive to a variety of places for amazing walks and sights.we did arrive for the annual food festival which was entertaining, but otherwise a very quiet place.

Small village on a hill in lovely surroundings. Lots of country walks but very little else. There are a few more facilities (2 pubs) in the adjoining village of Calver. Not far from Baslow, Bakewell and Chatsworth House.

Beautiful location in one of the best parts of the Peak District with many wonderful walks to go on. There are numerous pubs nearby and a fantastic cafe (The Eating House) with a gift shop attached. There's also an award-winning chippy nearby in Stoney Middleton which is well worth a visit. I cannot recommend this part of Derbyshire enough.

Curbar has no facilities, no shops.

Curbar has no facilities, no shops. But it's a short walk or drive to Calver or Froggat. Not a problem, really. It's right under the Edge, which is a truly wonderful, easy hike. Short drives to Bakewell, Chatsworth, Eyam, etc. Easy drives to Buxton, Castleton, Hathersage, Matlock, etc. There's a lot to do in the Peak District and this is a great little spot to be based.

Very central to lots of Peak attractions (ie, Chatsworth is only 10 mins away). Village itself has lots of pubs and shops. We ate at Curry Cottage, a very short drive away, which we would thoroughly recommend.

A tiny little Derbyshire village, with local church, pubs, art gallery, craft shop and little else. Set centrally for Chatsworth, Baslow, Hassop, Eyam, Hathersage, Grindleford, and some fantastic climbing and walking country. We had a wonderful time, and used our base at Curbar as a springboard to visit some absolutely wonderful places during our stay. None of the areas mentioned are more than a 10 minute drive away so you'll never be short of things to do and places to see.

The location was wonderful and Mark, the host was very friendly. A fan or air-conditioning in the room would have made it more comfortable in the unusually hot weather but we really enjoyed it there. Some lovely walks in the area too!
