Set 27 km from Trough of Bowland, The Royal Hotel offers 3-star accommodation in Kirkby Lonsdale and has a shared lounge, a restaurant and a bar.

Their hospitality was second to none. Our group were up early the next day, before anyone was on reception, as we were doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge and the hotel put together a takeaway breakfast for our group.

    Hotel is fantastic.

Hotel is fantastic. I stayed for work and used it as a base for business in the North. Quick access to Lakes and M6 which is an added bonus. Room is on point with comfy bed, great bathroom with decent shower and a desk to work. Staff are helpful and friendly and food is really good to.

Everything was good about our stay here, proximity to M6 to break the journey to Scotland. The room was very comfortable and food was good. I would just have liked a healthier vegetarian breakfast option.

    Rural location is good.

Rural location is good. And everything at the hotel was great! Friendly and professional staff, comfortable and immaculately clean room and superb food and service at a reasonable price in the restaurant. Ample free car parking, too. Only slight negative is that hotel is on a busy, fast road with no pavements - so walks from it might be limited for some guests (eg those with several small children or some elderly people).

The hotel is an old farm that’s been converted and is lovely from the outside. The high ceilings with the light coming in from skylights opens up the place to be bright and airy. The bedroom we stayed in was big and had an enormous bed and had a flat screen tv with all the built in mod-cons. Rachel the waitress and the lovely housekeeping lady who was hoovering (apologies for stepping in your floor) were the most friendliest staff that the hotel has and they are a ray of light and credit to the business.
