Booked it as it was near (20 minutes) to the Kynren show - it was fantastic, Kynren is a 'must see' for all ages, truly one of the best shows I have ever seen, and all the over 1000 participants are volunteers!

We were there for a Tuesday evening football match and did not want to drive back to Chester late at night. The Old Mill suited our needs for dinner, bed and breakfast perfectly. We would stay there again if exploring the North East.

Coxhoe is a small former mining village with some basic shops - a couple of convenience stores but a couple of boutiques too! Hairdressers and barbers are present along with a couple of take-aways (Indian and Chinese). Beautiful walks and countryside, charming village. However it is very close not only to Durham and Newcastle, but also to York (about 45 minute drive). Must have a car. Perfect for our purpose of Durham University Graduation, the City, the most wonderful Cathedral and river walks. Durham has many shops, good restaurants and indoor and outdoor markets. A welcoming city with a generous spirit. Will use Coxhoe for a longer stop-over when travelling to Northumberland and Scotland. We would not avoid anything on our next visit to Coxhoe - there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the atmosphere and the view. The M1 is conveniently close - only a 2 minute drive away.

We arrived a little later than originally planned, but this didn't cause any issue with check-in, which was swift and efficient. We were pleasantly surprised at our room - the decor was chic, scrupulously clean and quite modern. The bathroom was very clean, there were plenty of towels and were also very clean. The hotel is situated on the middle of nowhere, with no other pubs or restaurants that we could find within a reasonable distance, so we opted for dinner at the hotel. The food was very good quality, as was the selection of drinks, if a little more expensive than we expected. Breakfast was very good, with a good selection, served quickly and effectively. Check out was efficient.

    Idilic.

Idilic. Breakfast was lovely but we didn’t eat there other times due to other arrangements with friends. Would love to have tried the other meals. Did have a desert one evening which was to die for. We are foodies as you can see. Situation was great very therapeutic surroundings.
