The Grove Ferry Inn, hotel in Chislet

Built in the Georgian period, The Grove Ferry Inn is located 8 miles outside Canterbury. The property features a pub on the ground floor which offers riverboat trips.

Location is amazing for exploring the river and Stodmarsh nature reserve. Breakfast is good and the room comfortable and has plenty of character. The staff friendly and helpful, they stored our bags whilst we walked the river. The nature reserve is teeming with wildlife in May. To be there on such a warm bank holiday weekend was a stroke of luck as there can't be many better places to be in May.

Aqua Bay Guest House, hotel in Chislet

Aqua Bay Guest House is a beachfront property set in Herne Bay, 11 km from University of Kent and 13 km from Canterbury WestTrain Station.

Sally and Tony were very welcoming & friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. We were a group of 6 women walking part of the coast. Forgot to advise re vegetarians/vegan/1 gluten intolerant. They were really flexible & provided tasty breakfasts for all of us. The rooms are lovely - small but clean, bright, nicely decorated, comfortable beds. The location is fab, right by the pier. It was spot on for our group - thank you.

The room was tastefully done in every way. Lovely touches everywhere and it was so clean. The little touches were fab. We didn’t get to enjoy the bar - but the breakfast was lovely. The hosts were lovely. I would definitely stay again. Great information about the local area in the rooms. Great to have parking too.

295 Sturry Rd, hotel in Chislet

Offering a garden and garden view, 295 Sturry Rd is situated in Kent, 2.6 km from Canterbury Cathedral and 2.6 km from Canterbury WestTrain Station.

The booking was for an adult and a child, but the room only had one double bed. As two females they felt very uncomfortable with the atmostphere in the place and so left immediately and found other accommodation. They did not stay at Sturry Road in the end.

The staff were really lovely and I felt valued as a guest.

The staff were really lovely and I felt valued as a guest. It is an old building and the rooms are kept sympathetic to the age of the building. It may be more difficult for elderly visitors to negotiate the stairs to the rooms. Disappointed about the lack of room tea and coffee facilities but this was related to the prevention of spreading Covid. Stayed two days and thoroughly enjoyed the break although must admit the weather was brilliant.

We had such a warm welcome.

We had such a warm welcome. Very comfortable place to unwind and relax. Every little detail was thought of , we felt like special guests and that they had time for us. Lovely room overlooking the river...beautiful. Historic building which had been displayed to its best potential. We didn't bother looking elsewhere for food as it was great. Our only downside was we only had one night, definitely a return visit.

The village is quiet with not many shops, restaurants or facilities. It stands on a very busy railway mainline and trains are roaring through the village every few minutes. The Grove Ferry Inn is pleasant enough but needs a complete overhaul inside and out to get the best out of the facilities on offer. Could be a very popular Inn once updated and attention to details taken into consideration.
