The Lantern Pike Inn, hotel in Chapel en le Frith

This country inn is set in Little Hayfield, overlooking Lantern Pike Hill in the Peak District National Park.

We were warmly greeted by staff after a long days cycling, and staff offered help with storing our bikes for the night and gave us a comprehensive tour of the facilities. The pub has a lovely beer garden and the dinner and breakfast (breakfast was included in the booking) were delicious. The en suite facilities were excellent. We felt very comfortable here and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of booking.

The Merchant's Yard, hotel in Chapel en le Frith

Set in Tideswell, 12 km from Buxton Opera House, The Merchant's Yard offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

We had an excellent stay at the Merchants Yard for my partners birthday. Very clean and modern, the special touches were appreciated. The breakfast was delicious, and we had food in the evening which was also superb. All staff were fabulous, and explained everything and looked after us. We booked the hotel for the electric charging facility, and were impressed to be given our own allocated space. Tideswell is very peaceful and a great location to walk to Millers Dale, and easy to drive to a variety of places for amazing walks and sights.we did arrive for the annual food festival which was entertaining, but otherwise a very quiet place.

Although remote there are plenty of walks you can explore as Chapel en le Frith is rich in History and the information is first class 3 to 5 miles in duration. Personally i loved the peace and quiet feel of this market town although Buxton would be more convenient for transport and facilties Chapel has something more quiet and thoughtful for those interested in a historic aspect.

Chapel en le Frith is a great place to stay, so much to do and see in the surrounding area. Great for walks, National Trust properties and totally amazing views. A good selection of pubs and cafes, and two supermarkets.

I have been visiting The Peak District for over 50 years and have never stayed in Chapel, my mistake. It’s really convenient but often overlooked, easy access by car to Castleton, Edale Buxton etc. The people we met were super friendly from pub to restaurant to the shops. The town is big enough to have a couple of supermarkets, post office and a choice of places to eat. We found craft ales brewed locally, enjoyed a local quiz night and found a “ little gem” ie The Roebuck.

Very pretty (in the snow) - people very friendly (strangers helping cars stuck in the ice with shovels of grit and cardboard from a local delivery driver)…. Lots of eateries within walking distance showcasing a range of worldwide cuisines - The Rowbuck Inn was an excellent base for exploring. Bedrooms spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated (inc mirror, tv, beside tables with sockets for charging, wardrobe with hangers and fully stocked tea/coffee making facilities including biscuits. Will definitely be returning for another visit 👍🏻

Beautiful town with excellent walks around the Peak District. Friendly locals, good food and pubs. But be warned - most places are shut Mondays and Tuesdays and a lot of pubs don’t open until after 4pm, so plan ahead for food and refreshments.

The full English breakfast was good & served promptly but things like toast & marmalade weren’t offered. Tea was from a coffee machine that dispensed hot water. The breakfast service was given by a young girl who was pleasant & efficient but clearly overwhelmed. Breakfast was only available between 08:30 & 09:30, which is unusual. There was a car park at the rear of the pub which is a bonus as that part of Chapel en le frith is old & street parking is difficult.

the chap in the evening was very friendly, the hotel is pleasant enough, a bit quirky and a little tired in places but fits in with the exposed beams and general feel of the place, the pub was nice, food was ok, nothing special but nothing wrong with it, the waitress seemed a bit flustered and we were comically feeling like we were putting her out by existing

We booked the hotel for our hiking trip in The Peak District NP. The main factors for choosing this hotel were availability, location and value for money. Our stay was OK and we would stay again when in the area.
