Mel was a lovely host and gave us a warm welcome. Traveling with friends, so I was able to see both large guest rooms, they were lovely with nice bathrooms. We were able to use a table downstairs in the evening to play cards games. Breakfast was the best. We were each able to choose from a long list of items.
Yogurt, fresh berries, toast with jam, coffee and tea and delicious hot breakfast. A British brekky, or the eggs Benedict (I ordered these both mornings)nice healthy omelettes, my husband had the haddock, excellent he said. Great way to start the day! After being in London and Oxford the peace and quiet was wonderful. My friend was re-visiting her school after 44 years only 3 minutes away Ca

The Longlands is not in the town of Carnforth, it is located at Tewitfield Marina nearby.
Tewitfield is in the countryside, close to the Lancaster canal with some great walks. I can imagine that there is a lot going on in the school holidays and weekends, alongside the marina with a good atmosphere.
It is in close proximity of the M6 and A6 making it accessible to the South Lakes and Morecambe bay.
We drove through Carnforth it is a busy town on the A6

Lovely comfortable and clean rooms, with an excellent breakfast included in the price. The restaurant meals were good quality, but for me the thing that distinguishes the place from others was the wonderful staff they have. From reception to check out the quality and friendliness was outstanding.

Small town but had a lovely book store ( new and second hand) and lots of choice of catergories.I stayed at Royal Station Hotel which provided basic and clean accommodation for the night.
I personally wanted to go to Carnforth to visit the Heritage centre and watch the film Brief Encounter as it was filmed at the Carnforth railway station. The Refreshment room had good choices for lunch. You can also take a train through the edge of The Yorkshire Dales from there.

Lovely modern cottage.
Lovely modern cottage. It’s kitchen had everything needed to cook a full meal. Bed very comfortable. Shower hot. Quiet location even though it’s near to a motorway. Lovely walk along the canal and a pub on the doorstep. What’s not to like.
Loved everything about Tewitfield Marina. Booked 2 apartments for a group of friends for the weekend of 4th to 6th November. Location was fab. Views incredible. Right on the marina edge. Spent Saturday walking at nearby levens Hall. Saturday night booked a table at the longlands hotel. Food and service excellent and to top it off fireworks. Excellent facilities at Tewitfield and we are booking a few more trips for this year and next. My new go to place for a cheeky weekend away catching up with the ladies.
The rooms are spacious, the kitchen is worth mentioning: dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, and almost with everything one needs. Books and board games are on the shelf, children will have a good time in the evening after one day's trip outside. Only half an hour's drive to Windermere which is the centre of the lake district, in addition the Devil's bridge is nearby. It only takes about 15 minutes to drive to the nearest supermarket in Kirkby Lonsdale. In short, it's a good place for family to stay.
Everything about it was fantastic. Even though it was not fully open. Kitchen wasn't offering cooked meal. We were made most welcome. Nic as a host was absolutely brilliant. Rooms were luxury and tastefully decorated. Great place for a wee romantic break. Just of the beaten track. Highly recommend and will be back if ever in the area again. The other thing I liked was the option of getting a takeaway and being able to have it in the hotel as their kitchen wasn't open. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Capernwray House is a complete delight. A marvellous peaceful country location, yet not far from the M6 and Carnforth. Mel offers the warmest of welcomes upon arrival, with tea or coffee and sweet treats in the lounge. The rooms are decorated with impeccable taste and modern fixtures and finishes. The king bed was excellent. The included breakfast is elegant, varied and absolutely delicious.
Our stay, quite simply, made us smile from start to finish.
This is a beautiful house which is maintained in excellent condition and very comfortable. The Host was great and made us feel very welcome. She made a lovely cooked breakfast and could not do enough for us. The value was very reasonable too. All in all if we needed to stay in that area again then we would be very happy to book this hotel again.
The caravan was exceptionally clean and well stocked. Lovely to see real bedding like at home, not the generic hotel whites. The owners were very attententive and checked we had managed to check in ok and fot everything we needed. Great location on site and also great base for venturing to Arnside, Silverdale and Windermere.
After being let down by another branded hotel in the area, we booked a 2 bedroom lodge and were pleasantly surprised. From arrival to departure, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were professional and courteous, from the bar to reception and the leisure centre. We will definitely come back next time we’re in the area.
Keys where ready in the lockbox upon arrival.
The apartment was clean, tidy and welcoming. There where some basic amenities available (ie: tea, coffee, milk)
Staff where friendly and polite in the office when I asked about some of the local area and what there was to do
The restaurant was fabulous and the food was very good and the staff friendly. We were told that the new overseers had been there just a year and I could see that efforts were being made to spruce the hotel up, so good for them.
Very nice and beautiful resort... Resort Lake is beautiful... Best base for Lake district... You can have the best of both - Resort is self sufficient and when you want to go out - you can go to Lake District
Lovely wee hotel staff were great especially the girls behind the bar.Main waiter in the hotel was brilliant he informed us of his recent start and done such a great job!
Now that the main areas within the pub have been refurbished this represents a great improvement, especially the area now used for guest breakfast and the bar.
The food and eatery was very nice. Unusual having an annexe as the hotel rooms but great for privacy. Quiet and private. Close to the area I was visiting.
