This was our 3rd stay at this hotel which should be an indication that we like it. It is a charming place, ideally situated for visiting Orkney or just travelling the NC500, both of which we have done. The hosts ate extremely helpful and obliging and the food is delicious.

The room was small and the bed was positioned against the wall. Getting up in the night meant disturbing your partner. 80 years old and didn't feel comfortable climbing out of the bed when nature calls

Jan, our together travel contact at John O'Groats was fantastic and couldn't do more for us. He showed us in and relayed what improvements they were making to reduce confusion when checking in in the future.
The apartment was absolutely amazing, fully self catering but provided everything you might need. However, this was completely dwarfed in comparison to the view from the apartment, for which I am struggling to actually articulate it's grandeur.
Definitely 10/10 we will certainly be coming back!

Lovely welcome. Immaculate and spacious room; really comfy and with sea view. We were offered a lift to the Inn for dinner (we had hiked so had no car) which was really helpful. Breakfast was splendid. Totally recommend.

Our stay at Burnside Cottage was amazing. Kacey was the perfect host, welcoming us when we arrived. The bed was comfortable and the shower great. In fact, the room was very well designed. We had everything we needed, including some really lovely organic soap and lots of hooks in the bathroom. Especially important for us, there was a fridge in the room. A lot of thought has gone in to making sure guests are comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding, the best food we had been served so far in our trip. I would not hesitate to book again if we get the opportunity to return.
Featuring garden views, North Point Pods (north coast 500) is set in Thurso, around 3.8 km from The Castle Gardens of Mey.

Excellent in all aspects. Very well thought out Welcome Pack - take the time to read it through.
Communication with the owner was above and beyond anything we've experienced at other rentals. That personal touch sealed the deal for this 5 star rating.
Location is great. Good views from anywhere along the coast. We particularly enjoyed Duncansby Head Lighthouse and Stacks.
We were also lucky enough to have a clear sky on the first night and got some aurora pics which cast a special glow over the memories we made during our stay.

Welcoming hosts, great location and views. Lovely breakfast. Advised on where best to get photos of area.
Relaxing place to take a break from a very long journey to Orkney! The Mey Hotel for evening meal just a short drive away, that was exceptional and glad my hosts had recommended them to me.
