The Bridge House, hotel in Bridport

Situated in Bridport, just 5 minutes’ drive from the coast, we offers free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Weymouth can be reached in 30 minutes by car.

A beautiful period house decorated in keeping with its age and full of interest. Our room was well appointed, dinky but we expected that. It was lovely, clean and warm. The owners and staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast offering was excellent, a good choice of fruit, cereal, hot drinks etc and the cooked breakfast menu was extensive and catered for all tastes. The vegetarian option was first class. Located a 5 minute walk into the main town we found this perfect, close to restaurants, coffee shops etc but away from the hustle and bustle. A bus stop was just opposite the hotel if you didn’t want to use the car for exploring. The hotel had a handy car park for guest use and the pretty garden was a quiet haven for relaxing with a bar facility. There was also a communal guest lounge for guests to use.All in all the Bridge House was the perfect choice for us.

Charlie and Lucy were very friendly and hospitable and made us feel at home right away. The rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable and the views from the farmhouse were fabulous. The breakfasts were made, where possible, with fresh produce from the farm and beautifully cooked. A real home away from home.

There is so much to do in Bridport.

There is so much to do in Bridport. There are many pubs and restaurants and events. There is even a street market twice a week and a good variety of shops. Everything is within walking distance or you can take a bus. The beach is less than 2 miles away. Lots of hotels. Many charity shops. Very safe and friendly with narrow streets and oldie worldly charm and architecture. Good night life with theatre and music events to attract all ages. Good surrounding countryside for walks and pub meals. There is even a guided walk round the brewery.

There are so many places of interest both in and around Bridport. In the town itself there are plenty of places to both eat and drink. The buses take you to most of the surrounding places both big and small. But there are also very reasonable taxi services. Walking around Bridport is a joy as there are so many things to see and it has an interesting history. I can't think of any places I'd avoid.

Our stay was in West Bay just over a mile from Bridport.

Our stay was in West Bay just over a mile from Bridport. West Bay offers several choices of restaurant each offering local sea food. With its picturesque harbour there is plenty to see and do. From deep sea fishing trips to catching crabs or small fish around the harbour and pier. The cliff walks are spectacular as are the walks along the coastal paths. There are swimming pools in and around West Bay along with squash, badminton, tennis and table tennis facilities.

Great choice of pubs and restaurants in town, any staff I encountered were excellent. There’s a cinema, museum and plenty of independent shops for wet days. Decent bus service too to other places including Weymouth, Dorchester, Lyme Regis and Axminster.

Bridport is a nice little town with friendly people. We like micro-brewery beer and there is a nice brewery in Bridport that gives great tours. We really wanted to visit West Bay and that was close and very nice. The whole area is very scenic.

The room was large, comfortable and of a high quality in furnishing and decoration. Bed was enormous. It was a very quiet room, could not hear a thing, which is important because it is in a busy pub facing the main road. Centrally located in a pleasant and posperous town and a little over a mile from the seaside in West Bay and an easy trip to both Lyme Regis and Dorchester. Staff welcoming and pleasant and as always with Wetherspoons great value quality food. Would definitely recommend it.

Location is so handy for the centre of Bridport and walk to West Bay. We stayed for a week and we had a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Accomdation is clean, tidy, comfortable and hosts are excellent. This is bed only but we had been left all the necessary for our first morning along with a few welcome extras including eggs. Parking is also fairly easy. This was our second visit and we will definitely stay again.

Almost central location, easy 5 minute walk of central Bridport. Incredible peace and quiet for such a central location, sometimes, just birds tweeting and nothing else. Great feel to this cottage, wonderful tasteful decor with period touches, one eye to the current, and a nod to the past. Would have loved to be there on colder days with a log burner providing additional ambience- maybe another day. I would return.

I enjoyed my one night stay here in Bridport. Perfect location for everything, great cafes and restaurants nearby, superbly fitted out and very swish room! The breakfast was fantastic and filled me up for my day of walking and sightseeing the Jurassic Coast at West Bay and beyond. Very friendly staff, let me leave my case at the hotel early in the morning, then check in properly later in the day. Great stay.

As we always find with Wetherspoon hotels, the staff were consistently good, always helpful. When three of our six were served cold breakfasts, replacements were served. When these were still only half acceptable, a refund was given. Two of our three rooms were spacious, the third was very small. But all agreed that the beds were comfortable!

The location was very central to Bridport town centre and very easy for us to get to the places we needed to from. There was no Breakfast, but that was not an issue to us. The Hotel was shut on Sunday, so the owners kindly let us let ourselves out the following day (Sunday) and trusted us to leave the key in the door.
