A very warm and very friendly atmosphere. The food was of a very good standard and served quite quickly. The location was perfect for us, a good central location for the places we planned to visit. Also being on the edge of the moor gave easy access to Dartmoor for walks.

We loved our stay here! Angela was an incredible host, and we loved hearing her story and learning more about the B&B. Since there weren't other guests when we stayed, she was kind enough to move us to a larger room. Breakfast was amazing and our room was comfortable and clean.

Great location as we were cycling the Devon Coast to Coast. However the staffing issues meant tricky to get hold of towels that we wanted to hire and some delay in getting into the room. However we enjoyed our stay.

Welcoming and helpful-we arrived in our motorhome.Warm cosy thatched inn.
Beautiful furniture in our large room.
Excellent meal in the dining room -my husband loved the baked celeriac with broccoli and tiny carrots.
We especially enjoyed the proximity to the Granite way for cycling and railway
history. I imagine Bearslake is really busy in summer -great for an out of season break!

Bridestowe is a peaceful and scenic location not far from the town of Okehampton. It was ideal base for cycling in and around Dartmoor and was only 10 miles from Tavistock which is a very pleasant town to visit. There were several good restaurants around the area which were easily accessible by car. I would recommend this area for a relaxing break.
This would have been a 10/10 but 3 of us attempted a shower and every time it was cold. Also, when we booked online there was no mention anywhere that the restaurant (which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel) would be closed the day we went. However, the lady was lovely, room was great and was clean. Just a pity about the cold shower. Would definitely come back so long as the showers were a bit warmer 😉
Ample breakfast in a hamper. Evening meal was exceptional and exceeded our expectations. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Unforeseen circumstances meant the room we booked was unavailable and we were transfered to their self catering property attached to the hotel. Nothing was too much for the staff who helped and served with a smile.
The location is fantastic with a small stream bubbling through the open areas. The building is beautiful with thatched roof, exposed beams and masses of "old world" charm.
Check in was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast basket was novel and a great change to the regular soggy hotplates you normally get in a hotel stay.
The atmosphere of the historic building and the beautiful surroundings on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park make a stay in this hotel to a special occasion. The quality of the food is high. Owners Lisa and Julian are great and friendly hosts.
Dinner at the restaurant was superb - definitely exceeded our expectations! The setting and hotel were beautiful, staff were lovely. Highly recommend this place.
