Original unique and quirky, this is an exceptional place. Ancient thick stone walls and a peat fire which was really cosy. Dont expect a 5* hotel but do expect a memorable and comfortable private stone bothy with truly lovely hosts, access to a brand new bathroom with squeaky clean shower/ wc in the main house and Jackie showed us how she makes Harris tweed which was more than we expected and a really wonderful extra insight into local culture

The hosts are very responsive to questions, and everything was well organised. You will need a car to reach it from Stornoway, and that is part of its charm. Do be sure to call into Tesco in Stornoway before going there as there are few places to buy food for breakfast (but there is tea and coffee at the house). The wifi connection is good, but away from the house you may not be able to get a phone connection (which stopped us from telling the owners we had checked out for a couple of hours) so do all your communication in the house over the wifi. There is a beautiful beach near the house and many more a short drive away.

Although compact, it had almost anything you could need. Some really nice touches, and outstanding view.
Stornoway's most historic hotel, the Royal nestles in the heart of Stornoway, beside the marina, where you can relax, enjoy the hotel's cosy character and enjoy dining in our Boatshed Restaurant or in...
Stornoway's largest hotel, Caladh Inn is just half a mile to Stornoway Lewis Ferry Terminal and less than 3 miles from Stornoway Airport. Free Wi-Fi and free private parking are available.
We most liked the house's location. It was well placed for getting out and about to visit tourist attractions in the north and south of the island. It was 30 minutes drive from the ferryport/main town. This clean house was well stocked with everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay. There was a garden and adequate parking for 2 cars. The house was 5 minutes walk from local village restaurants and village shop.

The setting of the property was splendid with walks from the front door. Plenty of places to visit of great interest and the scenery was magnificent. Windy every day but little rain and glorious autumnal sunshine.

I've stayed here several times and always found it to be very good, my only critisim was with breakfast, there were only beef sausages available which I don't like and I was really looking forward to some pork links :-(

A wonderful place to stay.
A wonderful place to stay. Clean, very comfortable with very friendly staff. A meal in the restaurant is certainly not to me missed and it was cooked to perfection. Breakfast was also just as delicious. We will certainly be back here and would thoroughly recommend this little gem of a place!

Beautiful landscape.
Beautiful landscape. Some excellent visitor attractions in the general North Lewis area.
Surprisingly few pubs in the area, lack of places to go at night.
Teach Dhonnchadha was a nice place to visit with music on offer.
Food was excellent !!! So good we dinned both nights at the hotel which is unheard of for us we normally explore .. obviously a very talented chef ! All dishes made to a great standard including deserts! All the staff were very nice and we had a warm welcolme ! The family room we booked was very large and tastefully decorated ! Parking was good ! Well stocked bar for whisky ! Great location with excellent beaches not too far away! .. The beds are super comfy ! Brilliant night's sleep !
A wonderful property and facilities at the highest standard. Hot tub and sauna a real treat. Location was great to visit several key attractions on Lewis while just 30min from Stornaway. A local shop, pottery and hotel restaurant all within 5 min walk, with a walk to the sea across the Croft of another 5min. Hosts were terrific, offering a lovely welcome basket and a bottle of Prosecco. All told a truly wonderful stay and a terrific ‘get away’ spot for couples or family.
The house was amazing & exceeded my expectations. The hot tub & sauna which were located inside a shed were fantastic & meant it didn't matter if it was raining outside! My son enjoyed the table football, mini pool & darts etc also located inside the shed at the bottom of the garden. The hotel across the road was great for meals & did takeaway too.
We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights as a family. Everything was excellent. We thought the room price was a little expensive, given what other hotels were charging, but my sister in law who has stayed at Borve a couple of times, tells me that there is no comparison. The food was excellent and the staff cannot do enough for you.
There was a nice breakfast with a good selection. the morning staff was great. Room was large and clean, beds comfortable. Hotel is nice but thought it was expensive. If you wanted to stay on site, there was a bar and restaurant so you didn't have to leave if you didn't want to.
The chalet was very well equipped/newly furnished.
Outdoor area was beautifully maintained.
View and walk to sea was breathtaking.
Running stream nearby/sound of sea was peaceful.
Complimentary items much appreciated.
Enjoyed lovely meal in co-located Borve Hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay, it was relaxing and comfy. Everything you need is in the chalet. The hot tub and sauna were brilliant. Shop nearby and lovely hotel you can walk to to for a relaxing drink or food. We appreciated the lovely welcome basket.
Lovely hotel the staff were extremely good and helpful. The food was great and very reasonable priced. Rooms were large and comfortable and very clean. Would have no hesitation in staying there again.
