Butterfly House, hotel in Blackwood

Butterfly House in Blackwood provides adults-only accommodation with a garden and a terrace. Featuring mountain and garden views, this homestay also provides guests with free WiFi.

I loved the decoration of the house very stylish vintage style hippie style but also modern in places. I liked the fact that you could relax in the garden with a drink and vape outside and admire the stunning welsh valleys in the backyard!

We were only here for a night but needed to go in the town for breakfast. There were plenty of places to eat, a cinema and shops. We liked the facilities and would visit again. There are lots of lovely places around to drive to within a reasonable time, such as Caerphilly Castle and Cardiff.

McKenzies cafe. they do the best food in the area, breakfast to die for, staff are soooooo nice and polite. They were so helpful in sorting out a "Takeout" for the journey home. Parking (at the time) was free, behind the main street (coming in off the roundabout 50 yards on the right, sharp right). Asda, drive past (on your right) about half a mile, turn right, half a mile back to the shop ?? Nice cinema.

Blackwood is a small town with the main road holding most of the pubs, restaurants and shops, so easy to get around. There is plenty of parking in the town including a Lark car park if you do some shopping in ASDA......Also good for the lowest cost fuel in the area. If you want fast food, there is a KFC, Domino's, MacDonalds, Papa John's, Fish and Chips, Subway's, plus more. I like to eat at Red Chilli Indian, Bistro 8, Amici and The Black Prince Pub.

Great location with beautiful views, Food was to a really good standard with the exception of the steak and ale pie (steak was a little tough) but everything else on the plate was good. The room I had 104 was a little dated and the poor Wi-Fi made it difficult to carry out emails etc. but the bed was extremely comfortable. Really liked having use of the facilities and would recommend the hotel to others.

Location and views good, bed comfortable and enough room for both of us. Tea making facilities good with milk, coffee & tea. Spacious shower room, liked the night light useful when visiting the toilet at night. Outside area good for families, very competitive prices at bar and meal very good and catered for people with allergies very well.

The hotel is in a good location just out of Blackwood. It’s in dire need of some TLC and a full refurbishment which would no doubt cost a lot of money.
