LA PROVIDENCE, hotel in Illiat

Featuring pool views, LA PROVIDENCE provides accommodation with a private beach area, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and an open-air bath, around 22 km from Mâcon Exhibition Centre.

Leaving the place early in the morning after skipping breakfast, which is served with the owner at the table (awkward woman). And knowing that I will never in my life have to return here. The fact that in 30 out of the 50 pictures the host has posted selfies actually says a lot (by the way not recent), I should have known better.

Hôtel de la Tour, hotel in Illiat

Nestled in the heart of Châtillon sur Chalaronne, the Hôtel de la Tour welcomes you in a warm setting combining traditional charm and modern comfort.

This is a lovely hotel - well one of the two hotels that form part of the site - once you can find it. I On the restaurant the menu is somewhat limited and if you don't want frogs legs or crustaceans very limited. I cannot eat crustaceans so I was rather disappointed especially so when the amuse bouche was a crustacean mousse from which I could not benefit. My partner, however, was in heaven with that and the langoustine and lobster more expensive menu. I on the other hand was left with an interesting sounding vegetarian starter option "Petits Légumes Croquants au Piment d’Espelette 19.00€ Mimosa d Œufs de Caille" and the description suggests something crispy. On arrival it was anything but. It was merely Salad Russe - Russian Salad by any other name - and lacking any piment d'Espelette. For those unaware Russian salad is cold boiled carrots, potatoes and peas (in this case frozen) in a mayonnaise-like sauce and certainly not worth €19.00. My only main course option was "Traditionnelle Volaille de la Dombes à la crème 32.00€ Riz de Camargue Cuit à l Etuvé" which was actually chicken cooked in the style of George Blanc from Bourg en Bresse and not particularly from Les Dombes. The sauce was pleasant as was the rice but the chicken was dry, almost certainly cooked twice, and very chewy - not exactly falling off the bone. Having said all that it was a fairly pleasant stay in a very nice location and but for all the issues above would have given it a much higher rating but one can only speak as one finds. I would risk another stay there warned in advance as I am now.

Boasting a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and views of garden, Le Domaine is a guest house set in a historic building in La Chapelle-de-Guinchay, 14 km from Mâcon Exhibition Centre.

From the moment we arrived Sophie and Gary were very welcoming and gave us lots of information on the property. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal which was excellent and would highly recommend. The breakfast was delicious. The only thing we could say is we wished we had booked to stay longer. Thank you Sophie and Gary, hopefully we can return on another trip

    Horrible experience in all.

Horrible experience in all. The features on booking for this place are totally not correct. Worst things: shared bathroom with three family rooms, noisy floors, no WiFi, hardly any phone reception, host most unfriendly persoon in the South of France. Assured my the Peanut Allergy of my son was no problem with breakfast, in the end it was. In reaction she made a joke about it, actually hinting that he should such a baby about it. After experiencing this I felt very uncomfortable there, so after a short night we fled the place. Believe me, never to return.
