A surprisingly spacious gite set in the quiet hamlet of Les Ayres just a short distance outside of Meyrueis - easy, pleasant walk takes 5 -10 minutes to access bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc.
There were only 2 of us so we had a choice of bedrooms (3 in all, and all a good size). A lovely shady courtyard with a garden beyond, with fruit trees etc, and views across the adjacent fields to the hills beyond. A little dark inside as you'd expect with such an old property, but nice and cool in the heat we encountered and no doubt very cosy in the winter. The bright 'summer room' extension was an added bonus which gave us another option for a place to sit and read etc + we could park our motorcycle safely underneath. Well equipped and clean throughout and excellent value - we loved this place and were reluctant to leave - if/when we return to the area L'hirondelle will be our first choice!

The genuine rural farm setting in the beautiful Cevenne, up a 2 mile track, with lovely walks all around. The communal evening meal with all guests round a big table was nice, and for the meat eaters, the sausage roasted on the fire was probably lovely.
