The hotel is very quaint in a particular way. The communal areas are probably considered traditional meanwhile our room was modern and comfortable. We were on the 2nd floor so the stairs were a bit difficult as my wife had hurt her foot but they are very wide and easily accessible. The overall experience is very welcoming.
The bedroom was of adequate size for my wife, myself and our dog with sufficient furniture to be comfortable. The bed was quite large and comfortable.
The bathroom was very small but everything we needed was present, everything was functional and the shower was super.
The room and bathroom were squeaky clean.
We ate in the restaurant which, again, has a beautiful atmosphere. The food was excellent, I can only recommend eating here.
Our dog was also accepted without any problems whatsoever, the owners are also dog lovers.

A charming Alsace town surrounded by vines and farms.
A charming Alsace town surrounded by vines and farms. The town was a little quiet in August but we visited a lovely bar - Darwin for drinks. It is a small town so not difficult to get around with plenty of amenities. We ate at the hotel but there were other options.
We particularly liked the true authenticity and the cleanliness of the hotel. Mr & Mrs Dontenville impersonating the true Alsatian hospitality explained how this family business operated for several decades while it started part of the vineyard Dontenville. This traditional inn, located 40 mn from Strasbourg is also a very good restaurant, with succulent traditional dinner and wine. We also loved the rich breakfast that kept us going all day long in nearby Vosges mountains.
Location was excellent, the small town of Chatenois near the yearly gemstone/mineral fair in Saint-Marie-aux-mines that we wanted to attend. Chatenois has several lovely restaurants and hotels, all within minutes walking distance of Chez Madeleine. We enjoyed that very much! The space itself was unusual in a good way (very old traditional fachwerk house renovated to be up to date), both cozy and roomy and well-outfitted for the purpose, excellent shower, kitchenette, airco.
The location was perfect for us enroute to Italy. The staff were all friendly, super helpful and looked after us really well. The room was perfectly sized for a family of 4 and allowed us to rest properly. Breakfast was traditional with some lovely bread and pastries as well as excellent coffee and local jams. We left the hotel having enjoyed ourselves and feeling refreshed.
Beautiful hotel. Extremely clean and comfortable. Spacious room. Modern/updated bathroom. Free parking very short walk from the hotel. Near by restaurants and small market. Safe. Good internet speed. Beautifully appointed common area. Exceptional breakfast. Super friendly reception. Highly recommend this lovely hotel.
It was a very nice stay! The family-run hotel is lovely and the hotel owner a very friendly person. The little town is also beautiful. The breakfast was exceptional - one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. If I ever come back to this area and need a hotel, I will choose Auberge Le Meisenberg again.
We’ve stayed in Chatenois for one night while exploring the Alsace wine road. The Auberge Le Meisenberg is a tastefully restored and renewed Fachwerk house, room for 3 was comfortable and spacious, breakfast very good, and also the dinner that we had in the restaurant in their lovely inner yard was delicious.
Great hotel in the middle of the town, but it was surprisingly quiet! The room was spacious, as was the rest of the hotel. Everything was clean -- even the common areas and hallways. The staff were incredibly friendly and spoke both French, German, and a little English.
The hotel was beautiful and charming, and the food was great. The room had everything we needed and the building has so much character. It was lovely sitting on the curbside cafe section they had and watching the people of the town go by.
Very friendly staff. Great restaurant. Cosy common terrace area for eating. Nice breakfast!
We stayed here to do a bike+wine tasting tour, which started less than 10 min walking distance from the hotel, so perfect location for us.
We love this hotel and stay every year as we drive across Europe. The staff are delightful. The restaurant for both dinner and breakfast are great! We look forward to our next stay. Thank you
Service, cuisine, decor and value for money all excellent in this small hotel run efficiently and courteously. Decor was particularly interesting and cosy!
