Travelling from Santander to Cadiz, the location was perfect as the hotel was just off the highway. We did not venture out as we were tired, but the location was very quiet. Staff were very hospitable, rooms spotless. Continental breakfast was excellent. Beautifully decorated with Motorsport memorabilia everywhere. Our dog was well catered for, with a bag of treats.

We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch the ferry to UK. This was a perfect place to stopover as it was about 2/3rds of the journey. We set off mid morning, arriving around 1900, in time to relax with a drink on the lovely terrace before dinner in the dungeons (excellent meal - best to book your table online with the castle directly). After a leisurely breakfast, it was an easy 3.5 hour drive to Santander to catch the afternoon ferry.

An excellent mid point stop between The Algarve and Santander The dinner was truly memorable in a beautiful dining room, so lack of fellow diners was a bit of a mystery. The castle itself was of considerable interest.

Simply stunning hotel in the countryside outside of Salamanca. The castle has been lovingly restored, with excellent attention to detail. The staff are attentive and courteous. Plenty of space to exercise the dog, being able to see the horses was a bonus. The pool is a real asset in the heat of the summer, with a great view up to the castle. Good food & wine. Would highly recommend for a short-break, or, as we did, as a stop en route to/from Portugal.
This was our second visit to the hotel and decided to stay for 2 nights on our journey back to Santander. The place is fantastic and the setting and views are wonderful. We had a walk round the grounds and looked at the vineyards. The room was very nice and the food in the restaurant very good, we had wine from there own vineyard and was excellent. They even prepared an early breakfast as we were leaving early before the restaurant opened.
The castle hotel is definitely something special. The whole ambiance is amazing and decor authentic. With a gorgeous setting amidst vineyards, it's the perfect country escape. I only wish the hotel tries to arrange more activities like wine-tasting, horseback riding etc. The restaurant is excellent, prices are not too bad and food quality is amazing. We also love the pool, but there are lots of wasps all around it.
The hotel had upgraded our room because it was a quiet night and we'd booked ahead.
Bit of a trek to the breakfast marquee, and the trays to carry one's dishes were too flimsy. Fruit came in individual Kilner jars, far too big for each tiny helping, very hard to extract the minuscule fruit, and it looked and was ridiculous, not at all practical, whoever thought of this should try eating the fruit!
absolutely stunning hotel in the countryside with lovely walks perfect for our dogs. Staff were exceptional. Rooms were gorgeous with very comfortable beds (even beds for the dogs). Beautiful castle with so much history. Dinner in the vaulted dining room amazing. Excellent food and service. Cannot praise this hotel highly enough it was just superb.
The hotel upgraded us to a superior courtyard room which was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and it was one of the best meals we have ever had, we wished we could have stayed longer to try more of the menu. Absolutely delicious. We also loved the wine that had been made there. Stunning location.
We were traveling with our small dog and it was lovely to see that the room had a dog bed, biscuits and a water dish for her. So thoughtful… many hotels charge much more for a pet stay and provide nothing at all. The staff were extremely friendly and the house wine made at the Castilo was excellent.
Fabulous place to stay and the cost is very reasonable for the uniqueness, comfort, and excellent staff. The breakfast buffet was wonderful as was the view around the castle. The hotel has also taken extraordinary measures for cleanliness and safety. Highly recommend.
Fantastic hotel with the spirit of the 12th century. Incomparable views over the grape fields from the roof of the castle. Nicely decorated rooms, very good dinner and breakfast. A bit of a shame that we didn't get a wine tasting.
Thank you very much for nice stay!
so amazing beautiful and I had my dog who was very welcome thé hôtel gave him a bed with gift biscuits so nice all the staff the diner breakfast everything was amazing perfect
Gorgeous room, large and very comfortable. Location and surrounding countryside beautiful, with plenty of space to walk the dog. The hotel has so much character and history.
It is an incredible place, hard to believe you can stay in such a wonderful place for the cost of a hotel room. Moving around the castle rooms and patios blows you away
