The hotel is situated on the shores of the Bay of Biscay, in the incomparable setting of the fishing town of Lekeitio.

[My review covers both text boxes, as Booking does not provide enough space for it to fit in just one]
We don’t often book the most expensive rooms in hotels, as they are generally way overpriced for what they offer. However, as we had booked a 2-night stay in the coastal resort of Leiqueitio after a long road trip through Spain, we decided to indulge and booked an ocean view double room, their most expensive offering.
Entering the hotel compound, we were happy to find an excellent parking space in the (very) limited lot. However, we learned shortly thereafter that we had to move the car to another, much less convenient one, as the one we first picked was RESERVED (yes!) for another guest (a Spanish fellow). This is the first hotel I encounter where you reserve even your parking space!
We were not given the best room on our floor (the 2nd), nor were we given one of the best and largest rooms on the top (3rd) floor, although we were paying full asking price… but let’s not grudge: the room was spacious and the ocean view was there as expected. The bed was king size and the room furnishings adequate, even though shelf space in the closet was scarce and poorly arranged. Note that this is another one of those hotels that fear their customers will steal coat hangers —after having paid 150 euros per night, breakfast not included (see photo).
The bathroom was much less satisfying. Large but windowless and cavernous (mediocre for shaving and very bad for making up), it featured two sinks… but one of them has no access to the on-the-wall soap dispenser, and is therefore basically useless! And it’s those fashionable rectangular sinks with flat bottoms that take ages to empty… not nice! See photo. One of them didn't drain properly.
On the same theme, there are bathrobes, but where do you hang them to dry once you’ve used them? There is not one single wall hook in sight in the bathroom!
The traditional 18th Century building of Hotel Zubieta is situated in Lekeitio. All rooms are uniquely named and decorated, and have free Wi-Fi and satellite TV.

Excellent place to stay if doing the Camino Del Norte. It is about 100m just off Simon Bolibar Plaza in Ziortza-Bolibar (which is on the camino path). Never saw host as you self check in but they were very quick to respond and helpful when you message them. You are emailed the entry codes the day prior. Modern kitchen and living area with TV on ground floor. I had a 4 bed (2 × bunks) with own bathroom. Bed was comfortable and place was quiet through the night. Hot shower with good water pressure. Liquid hand soap provided. Linen was clean, and heating worked well. They have a credential stamp on the kitchen table. Used the correos service to have luggage transfered to and from and that went well. Had a very comfortable stay. Wifi worked well. There is quite a good Eroski supermarket in Markina across the road from the camino path- best to get groceries there as no store near accomodation and nothing else was open when I arrived and left (but I could see there were some food places but they weren't open). Some reviews mentioned getting food from vending machines at the accomodation but it only had a few drinks when I was there.
