It’s a fine hotel centrally located in the old city center of Puerto Plata. The beach is in 25 minutes of walking distance. Very simple rooms for a cheap enough price. Didn’t check the rooftop bar

The town is great, the people are nice, but the hotels are in serious need of restoration and updating. I cant get over the fact that almost all the hotels on the coast there do not have proper hurricane protection, whether its shutters or hurricane resistant windows. Any direct hit by a hurricane will spell disaster for most hotels on the coast. Serious upgrading is needed on nearly every hotel.

I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly.
I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly. Smile and they will always respond in kind.
Be careful to not wear expensive jewelery on display as petty crime exists in less tourist areas, and cover your all inclusive band while out as you will be seen as a rich american and pestered.

I love the people of San Felipe de Puerto Plata and I love the beaches.
It is a safe place and beauty everywhere with lots to do. I love the downtown area with its many attractions like umbrella street, Paseo de Dona Blanca or pink place, Parque Central and also the many restaurants in the area. One of my favorites is El Patio de Frida. A nice casual Mexican restaurant near the downtown area and also Casa 40 is another one near by.

I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity.
I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity. I felt secure with the gated entry and security guard on duty. A list of shopping and dining locations screened by the owner would have been useful, but we vetured and survived. People were friendly and not too aggressive.

Facility was ok. Service was horrendous.
Facility was ok. Service was horrendous. They advertise 3 restaurant however only 1 available per day which required reservations but not available. Food was not very good and very limited options. Bar service - only draft beer and not very good. Bottle beer was additional, even President which should have been inclusive. No mini bar service! Would definitely not be back!!

If you come here stay at the iberostar or playa Dorado you can stay and feel better about grand paradise blue bay . The beaches are better in Sosua and I mostly prefer Cabarate. Playa Dorado beach is ok . Some white sand. Sosua is half an hour away and Cabarate is 36 mins away from puerto plata. If you come stay at 4 or 5 stars the food is better there. . I stayed at Live Marian but as soon as I got there they pressure you to go to a presentation to purchase life time vacations. The food was not good at all there.. I told them I already I own 2 Timeshares and I don't need a 3rd. Property needs to be updated. The swimming pool was fine but the beach area had not been cleaned. Seaweeds all over. No complaints about Puerto Plata . Just stay at 5 stars to enjoy your trip if you want to have good food and relaxation. The best place to visit is Cayo De arena if you like snorkeling or go to Las Galeras best diving there. It's 3 hrs by car from Puerto Plata.. the best beaches are Playa grande Playa Rincon and Playa Calera in Las Galera a small fishing village 40 min north of samana. You can find a good Bed and Breakfast from 30 to 60 dollars a night.

The staff, especially Mariano was outstanding, he is an exceptional employee, he was very helpful with any questions or information I needed help with. This is my first long stay in the Dominican, and I will definitely stay here again. As it says, not a 5 * hotel, and I didn't need one, but very nice place right on the beach, and the price is an exceptional value, in my opinion. The beach is a minute walk away, everything you would need I.E. grocery, restaurants and bars is a five minute walk or a short motorbike taxi away.
Check in was a hassle, need to improve on that. Breakfast was not bad. It was actually pretty good, although it was limited on choices to drink. That hotel is in need of some serious maintenance. Very poorly maintained and outdated. Couldn't even take a hot shower, no hot water. In this day in age, no hot water is rediculous. I mean, common really? My wife got sick for taking cold showers. This is not a third world country any more, that was maybe 30 years ago. To me, it felt like that hotel would not be open much longer.
So basically I didn’t like nothing because it was a big scan the villa not exist the people that owner the villa let us driving all the way from Santo Domingo and in the middle of the way call us and tell us and tell us go urgent go to the bank and transfer for us money when we arrived nobody was there the location never sent the money we transferred from the bank gone and basically we stuck for three hours to looking for another hotel in the city I’m not recommend to nobody to go to This place it’s a big scam a huge scam
We looked for a place to stay for one night in Puerto Plata, and we found this gem, the photos are accurate, and we were surprised by how big our room was. The shower was very "high tech" with hot water. There was a nice little pool in the shared area. Breakfast was very good, and hosts were very accommodating. This is also one of the only places in the Dominican Republic where we had solid WiFi.
There is a very large super market very close, and some restaurants nearby.
This hotel is a gem. A beautiful, family owned and run Villa, shaded by huge trees and mature foliage, with a nice swimming pool in the center. Available kitchen facilities, including refrigerator and everything required to prepare meals. Breakfast included. A large dining, relaxing, common room with computer, books and comfortable seating. Near excellent medical facilities and the beach. With a muy agradable staff.
Very calm place. Good location to sightseeing - Old Town ~2km, 27 Waterfalls ~20km. WiFi available in all areas and it is fast. Rooms are small but enough to live - bathroom, wardrobe, bed, table and two chairs is enough for rest after tiring day. Included breakfast are delicious but should be bigger (eggs, fruits, toasts, caffee). Unlimited drinking water and fridge available for all users. Price is unbelievable!
After 15 years of travelling throughout the Dominican Republic, this is the best place we have stayed at. Spacious yet small enough to not need a golf cart to go to restaurants and the beach. Beautiful architecture, decor and furnishings. Great food. Perfect beach. Quiet. Friendly.
Luis is an excellent host, very helpful and attentive. The apartment is perfect for the price, it was clean and well equipped. The location was also great, the apartment itself is in a quiet street but only a few minutes walk away from the town center as well as from the seafront.
Everything, this hotel is immaculate and honestly seemed reasonably priced (maybe even cheap!) in the bar and restaurant for the quality. We would have stayed here for at least one extra night if we had known it would be so great.
the only thing i liked was the treatment Joel one of the waiters from Mylos restaurant on Tuesday night. Him and another lady who’s name I can’t remember treated us amazingly. They were the only good thing about this hotel.
Breakfast was good, lots of dishes, variety of fruits.
Possibility to use various restaurants without reservation for dinner.
Nice staff in restaurants.
There was a nice short walk from the hotel to the beach
nice new property and very close to the marina where I needed to go to board my ship the next day. good resturants located within walking distances. the staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly.
Staff were very helpful, polite, and friendly. Special kudos to Irma, the tourism representative; and Francisco at the reception desk. Location of hotel is very convenient.
