I attained the objective of my visit.
I attained the objective of my visit. But for the poor hygiene and sanitation at the Hotel Sawa, all other things were very good. Dinner at the Gemi Wing restaurant was excellent. Douala is the life wire of the Cameroon economy, with lots businesses centered here. It is easy to get around with yellow taxi, taxi from your hotel or using a mobile app to get a taxi. The town is at the sea bed of the atlantic ocean and the wouri river, heavy rainfall, hot and humid weather! Akwa, where my hotel was located, was not clean at all, especially at Boulevard Ahmadou Ahidjo. The streets had not been swept and refuse dump every where.

The house was dusty and the fridge dirty. The sheet were of the same as what was advertised hence not changed. The electricity is prepaid and i have to pay for that. I later noted that under the bed was never swept. ( see picture). They were cockroaches in the bathroom. Douala is a beautiful city but you just have to be careful when making a reservation for a place to stay because you can see many of them online of which they do exist even if you do resaved a place make sure to having a conversation with them before starting your journey if ever the contact number provided doesn’t go through forget it because it will never go through.

If you want to have excellent and gorgeous fish for lunch/dinner, go to Base Navale, there you will find places looking very simple, some built in colonial style, but the feeling and the fresh catch of the day will let you dream.

I recommend best western plus Soaho to everyone travelling to douala and plus its 10 mins walk to the airport. 10 mins walk to Grand Mall (a large shopping centre) . My daughter and I arrived at 3 am and I had not included to my booking I’ll need a driver but the staff ( Dany ) went out of his way to pick me us up from the airport. It was my husbands birthday whilst we were here, we were able to have family and friends over for a party our hosts cooked for us which went down very well. Lovely quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of Douala. We will be staying here everytime we visit Douala from now on. Exceptional.
