The lock system was what drew me to Thorold but I enjoyed the town itself as well. I had dinner at places near the historic town center: Donnelly’s pub, where I had a great lamb stew, and breakfast at Hana’s which was friendly with good food. I found some nice shops in that area as well and some lovely homes and parks.

Two bedrooms had an ensuite bathroom, the other bedrooms had a separate shared bath. The area, fairly new townhomes, seem comprised of college age students. There are stores and restaurants in nearby Thorold and about a 30 min drive to NOTL.. We stayed the weekend to attend the ice wine festival and visit nearby wineries. Overall, we had a great stay and would come back again.

The location and balcony are ideal for watching the huge boats passing through Lock 7. The town of Thorold is charming. A special treat was discovering that on Friday evenings in the summer there is a “Ride Night” of vintage cars in the town centre. The staff were pleasant and very accommodating. It was lovely weather while we were in Thorold. I liked the small scale of the Inn. I loved that we could open a window and a door window as well for fresh air. Location is fantastic if you love ships passing by while you sit back on the balcony to your room. It is close to NOTL, Niagara Falls and St Catharines. Downtown Thorold is picturesque. I loved the fact that the parking was for free and easy to find a spot even when we arrived at night.
