Great homemade breakfast with an enjoyable atmosphere. The room was very cozy and had a nice view over the bay.
Alain and Denise have been great hosts and gave us a lot of useful tips and information including a small live concert for breakfast.

Great location. Very quiet. Could not hear anyone else in the hotel. The manager lived next door if there were any issues.
This is a lovely place to stay! I have stayed there on two different occasions and had a wonderful experience both times. I stayed in one of the suites, which was well equipped. Having a full fridge, stove top, oven and microwave were great to have! Internet was not great, but that's the norm for that whole area, so not specific to the Hebridean Motel. The place was super clean and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. The beds were comfy, and the AC was much appreciated with the hot weather. Can't wait to return!

Beaches, sunsets, friendly folk!! Near Mabou and the Red Shoe for music and dinners. As well as being on the Ceilidgh trail.
A great, quiet spot. Also went on a kayak trip with Alex MacKinnon which I highly recommend. Walked the boardwalk and the beach. It was beautiful and peaceful but lots to do!!

Since we have been here before, in a different hotel, we didn't need as much time and so one night was fine. It is a beautiful area and has many beaches, as well as being near some great kitchen parties etc. so a great location.

There are not a lot of restaurants that were open but the Clove & Hitch Bar and Bistro a block from our hotel was amazing. Lovely decor and delisious menu! We also took in the Glenora Distillery a half hour away for a tour and lunch.

I was stranded there due to weather, but it seems like a nice enough place. Apparently there are wonderful beaches nearby. What I did enjoy was the tail end of "Kitchenfest" a lesser-known celtic music festival, which is wonderful! Make sure to check out the Red Shoe Pub.
Breakfast was delicious! Really enjoyed the omelet and the homemade bread, as well as several variety of jams. During breakfast, the hosts gave us a bit of a presentation and story telling about Mabou and Port Hood history and things to do, which were great suggestions that we would not have known about as tourists (off the beaten tourist track). We also got a small fiddle show!
The room was clean, bed was comfy and it was great to have our own bathroom and key to our room door. Look forward to going back!
We stayed two nights at the Hillcrest Hall Country Inn. The Inn has a lot of character and history. Very nice decor with the period antiques. We enjoyed sitting on the porch to watch the sunset. The breakfast was really good, with tea biscuits and boiled eggs. The breakfast dining room is lovely. It was a nice service to have coffee and tea all day.
Port Hood was a nice small town with a great beach and awesome sunsets!
I would recommend this Inn to friends and family.
The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. Rooms were impeccable and the breakfast was delicious. Over breakfast we were entertained with an informative slide show describing the cultural roots, complete with a fiddle tune.
Close to an amazing beach … and 10 minutes from the Red Shoe, where I was able to see some awesome Cape Breton music with Jason Wood on keyboard and Rachel Davis on the fiddle.
Denise & Alain were great. The breakfast was excellent, homemade granola, bread & preserves. This is what made it so special and the love of a good B& B! Plus Alain played the fiddle and gave us a lot of history about Port Hood. Based on what he told us we explored the beaches, which were great and made us want to come back and spend more time!
I loved everything about this property. The owner, the colours of the building are so sharp, the rooms are great, clean, quiet and comfy. Great restaurant in front of the hotel and the water on the other side with a beautiful beach. Thanks so much also for accommodating my mistake on the booking. That shows the true Cape Breton hospitality.
Located at the edge of the attractive Port Hood beaches, the Hebridean Motel is nicely situated to enjoy the sights and sounds of Cape Breton Island. Just a few kilometers away at Mabou is the Red Shoe Pub, owned by the famous Rankin Sisters, featuring good food and lively Cape Breton-style entertainment.
The staff, especially Lucy, was the very best. The breakfast was exceedingly good. Lucy is a very good cook. The room was clean, well furnished, and comfortable. Suites are also available. Sitting on the veranda looking across the sea at Port Hood island, made the Nova Scotia wine taste much better.
The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in at an Inn/motel. Location was perfect. Beautiful view. The staff are exceptional. Met some cool other guests. Usually we rent cottages on AirBnB- I forgot how nice it is to stay in an Inn and meet other people.
The inn is a nice old house in Port Hood with a spacious porch and front lawn with Muskoka chairs. The room is spacious and has what you need. Breakfast was buffet style with cereals, yogurt and toast. There was also a choice to have scrambled eggs and bacon.
Francis and Catherine were the greatest hosts ever! The rooms were were spotless and the beds were super comfortable! Look no further when staying in Port Hood! You will leave feeling like family ; ) The location and view were perfect!
The breakfast and the hospitality was excellent! I really appreciated the personal touch of meeting the owners and discovering more about the history of Port Hood and Cape Breton Island. The music during breakfast was a highlight!
The breakfast was good! Our room was beautiful. I loved the quilt and lace curtains. The house also has a great view of the sea and Port Hood Island. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful.
Our hosts prepared a delicious breakfast, shared history of the Port Hood area, and Alain even played his fiddle. Our room was bright and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern.
Comfortable room with bay view. Creative and tasty breakfast. Host presents new useful and entertaining info each day and played a Cape Breton tune on his fiddle.
Located along the west coast of Cape Breton, the view is lovely, my room was large and with an attached bathroom, and the hosts could not be more accommodating.
