Brilliant old house, in great condition. The yrd wants some love though. I'd be happy to rebuild the stone walls.

After 32 years since my last visit, I was saddened to find that the bustling daily life and historical scenes of my past recollected experience were no longer present (lots of costumed interpreters, horses and carts, auctions, active village programs throughout the day, period meals served in the food purveyor spaces). The life and character of this historical fortress apparently died a COVID death as very few individuals were around to bring to life the settlement in its heyday. Barely any animals to be seen and lots of closed buildings. Our highlight was the bakery and buying fresh bread. Unfortunately a disappointment but hopefully some federal funding can inject new life into this excellent site in the near future.

The Fortress is an amazing Canadian landmark accomplishment, a historical treasurer! We took 2 tours, the first was a Solider in period dress who shared his life story, and actually shot his rifle to demonstrate. He then escorted us to one of the homes, where we were met by a woman in period dress who shared life in the household and the history of homemade hot chocolate which she had prepared for us. We also booked a private tour; our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the history of the Louisbourg fortress! Every building we entered had amazing people in period dress, sharing stories of life at that time...this experience is where history truly comes to life. Thank you Canada!

Louisbourg is a really cute piece of Paradise, very small and quiet. The Forteresse is amazing. We really enjoyed our time there . So much history happened in Louisbourg that we did not know about. Very entertaining and educational .

Louisburg is an amazing town with an incredibly rich history. The Heritage House reflects that beautifully with its rooms and hallways and dining areas that reflect our history. The breakfasts were just amazing and in a wonderful setting. We could walk anywhere in the town and easily access delicious food, drinks and beautiful scenery.

We had a great time visiting the Fortress of Louisbourg and exploring some country roads in the area. Staff at the Fortress was very welcoming. It was a great experience learning about what life was like back in the 1700s

As a history lover, the fortress is fascinating. The experience is scaled down a bit due to COVID-19 restrictions but still enjoyable seeing the site and interacting with the friendly and knowledgeable costumed guides.

The inn is a beautifully restored and maintained heritage home. David is a very helpful and friendly host who made us feel welcome. Our bed was very comfortable and the attractive room and bath had everything we needed. There is a coffee and tea station for guest use. David served us Eggs Benedict with fruit salad, juice and coffee in the lovely dining room arranged with small socially distanced tables so we could still chat to other travellers despite covid. We highly recommend Cranberry Cove Inn.

The owner David is absolutely wonderful. Accommodation is cute and was very clean. I assumed that you would hear the other guests in the house as I believe it’s a wood frame but it was surprisingly quiet despite an almost full house. Bed was comfortable, they have blackout blinds, air con in room- I slept well. I’m not really a breakfast person but I would say- Don’t miss the breakfast here, it was delicious!

Upon arrival the outside looks like it needs a little love, but inside is stunning. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. Breakfast the next day was down the road at a second inn. It was a lovely breakfast and an ideal opportunity to speak with other guests. Great location to the Louisbourg Fort.

The cabins were perfect, quaint, and well equipped. Within walking distance of town , a short drive to both the fort and the light house. The Spoondrift cafe in town was superb.Best scallops ever. There was a small babbling brook at the back of our cabin and the sound was so soothing.
