We enjoyed a two night stay at the Avon Terrace Guest House and it was absolutely fabulous. The hosts Paula and Stephen were so welcoming and friendly. The accommodation was very comfortable and beautifully furnished with high quality bed linen and super fluffy towels. It has an excellent location in the very heart of York. We had two fantastic breakfasts each morning - the porridge with caramelised banana was a real treat followed by bacon and eggs. It really set us up for the day. The property has so much history and we loved hearing all about it's very colourful past. And if all this wasn't enough it has a great spa bath on the balcony! We highly recommend the guest house and would like to thank Paula and Stephen for such an wonderful stay.

A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring.
A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring. Lots of historical buildings to see, lovely gardens and the river is flowing well. The York museum is well worth a visit. The Salvos have a great jumble sale, items are very cheap and good quality - worth the visit just for this! And you get free entertainment at the same time!

There are little shops and interesting places to visit in the town centre and its surrounds. I enjoyed my 2 days there. That was enough time for me. I suggest planning your day and looking at the opening hours of the places you want to visit as almost everything closes by 5pm. I suggest visiting the Old Flour Mill which has a cafe and an interesting collection of art and vintage items for sale. The old gaol is also worth a visit.

An amazing Town steeped in history, excellent heritage buildings, surrounded by wonderful privately owned properties, being winter the countryside could be easily have been mistaken for any where in the English countryside. Dining out is not a problem with all tastes catered for in hotels and restaurants, all within easy walking.

I was staying one night in York for work. I chose to stay at a B&B for the ease of having breakfast. The York's Lookout Lodge Bed and Breakfast was excellent. My room was very comfortable and quiet. I had my own bathroom and also had my own, cosy, sitting area. The owners even provided a complimentary port to end the day.
Breakfast was delicious and the hosts were very friendly.
I'd happily recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet stay in York.
The accommodation had good space both within the unit and outside where Jeanette and Paul had provided seating and table tennis under cover and protected by fly screens. Our hosts were overwhelmingly generous with food, toiletries and snacks. The bed was comfortable and there was good WiFi. We felt happy to come and go as we pleased.
The B&B is located on the edge of York so it is peaceful but quite a distance to walk into town and to restaurants.
My son loved being able to feed the animals and explore. The log fire kept the whole house warm and cosy and the facilities had everything we needed. Our hosts were friendly and kind even loaning us a double adapter to plug our baby monitor in. Close to Beverley and York except they were mostly closed the days we were there.
A repeat visit to the York Pace. We stayed again in one of terrace rooms at the rear of the hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. It’s a king bed and the bathroom is also very large. Staff were friendly and helpful and we appreciated the easy contactless check in with friendly text updates from the manager, Nola.
A very friendly place to stay. Stacy was very helpful and stayed around to accommodate my later-than-expected arrival time.
The room was very clean, warm and inviting on a cold winter's night. Loved the bathroom too.
All up a great boutique accommodation option right in York. Highly recommend.
The host was really accommodating and provided additional comforts like fresh juice, scones and other assortments. The place was bigger than expected and very private. Coming and going was easy and it was just a 5 -10 minute stroll onto the main street of York.
extremely good value for the money we paid, very comfortable beds, nice shower, well equipped kitchen, undercover outdoor seating area, tennis courts, very welcoming hosts, great location just 10 minutes walk to the main street of York
Great location for York. Comfortable bed and all the amenities you will need for a short stay. An added bonus of numerous animals on the property - alpacas, chickens and a wallaby. Pendle cottage has its own garden with BBQ.
The room and facilities were excellent.
Owners extremely friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast delicious.
We would stay here again next time we visit York.
