Falls Mountain Retreat Blue Mountains, hotel in Wentworth Falls

Falls Mountain Retreat offers modern and luxurious self-catered and self-contained studios and apartments in the heart of the Blue Mountains.

Happily there were extra towels in the bathroom as we needed them to mop up all the water. The young woman on reception, who we eventually found (no clear instructions sent on access or location of reception), was very pleasant. The next morning she apologised for giving us the wrong apartment and assured me the manager would be contacting me. I am still waiting for that to happen. It was a comfortable apartment, and the grounds were beautiful.

Carrington Hotel, hotel in Wentworth Falls

200 meters from Katoomba Train Station, The Carrington offers elegant accommodation in a heritage-listed refurbished manor.

For the time we actually spent here, we enjoyed every minute staying at this hotel for our 2-day Grand Cliff Top Walk adventure, and we're already planning our next visit! Although Day 1 starts at Wentworth Falls, the hotel's close proximity to the train station made easy to get around. After a day of trekking, we couldn't wait to kick back at the hotel, but not before grabbing well-deserved schooners at the Old Bank Pub. Warm welcome at reception. Love the hertigage and creeky floors. Spacious room, the hot tub was a lifesaver for our tired muscles. Later that night, we indulged in a meal paired with local wine at the brasserie and then enjoyed the live music at the bar. Early night to begin Day 2 fresh. Hopped on the train Leura to finish at Scenic World. Memorable birthday getaway – we couldn't fault a single thing. Everything fell into place. Can't wait to do it all over again.

Great local shopping centre with cafes and plenty of food choices including The Lemon Grocer supermarket for self catering. The Fed cafe and Bakery Patisserie Schwarz were delicious. Plenty of parking. It would be difficult to get around without a car to drive to accomodation and local attractions.

Lot's of beautiful walks of various lengths and gradings.

Lot's of beautiful walks of various lengths and gradings. Conservation Hut offers great views and a fabulous menu and wine list. For an evening meal I'd fully recommend the Avalon in Katoomba . Sensational food and cocktails in a quirky re purposed picture theatre. Local art gallery/gardens also worth a visit

So many hidden gems within driving, walking, running, biking...

So many hidden gems within driving, walking, running, biking distance, I only wish I had the ability to stay longer. Would highly recommend taking a trip to see Blackfellow Hands, or more local to Wentworth falls take the walk to see Empress Falls (not suitable for those with mobility issues). Scenic World was the initial reason for us staying in Wentworth Falls, but this was a huge disappointment for us considering there are so many free and beautiful alternatives. Scenic World is awesome for those not able to walk long distances or access areas that require unassissted mobility, otherwise a waste of money.

    Wentworth Falls is fantastic.

Wentworth Falls is fantastic. Unfortunately a LOT of track closures following an extended wet period which has resulted in unstable cliffs in places- Worth a bit of research as things may change at short notice. National Parks posts maps showing which areas are closed off- sadly most of these are unintelligible... would be nice if they simply marked up what you CAN do right now. National Pass has been closed for some years and following tragedy last year the lower passes have been closed- I believe Parks are doing some work to upgrade. Still, the walk down to the base of the Upper Falls is not to be missed... even if you do have to retrace steps rather than making a circuit.. Conservation Hut closed, seems to be under renovation- BYO picnic!

Wentworth Falls has a couple of great cafes, we visited Fed...

Wentworth Falls has a couple of great cafes, we visited Fed twice for breakfast as the food and service was fantastic. We also picked up quite a few groceries from The Lemon Tree Grocery store. Such a beautiful store, very clean, beautifully stocked fresh produce and a great selection of unique items and very friendly staff. The bakery cafe was another great find, bought some yummy sourdough to bring home. The walking tracks of Wentworth Falls are a must while visiting this part of the mountains. Gets very busy on the weekends but it’s not overcrowded and there’s plenty of space for everyone. If you’re looking for a restaurant for lunch or dinner we would recommend Tempus at Katoomba. We thoroughly enjoyed a long Sunday lunch after a morning hike to Wentworth Falls. The use of Australian ingredients in all of their menu, including drinks, makes it extra special.

Great views and walks of various distances on offer.

Great views and walks of various distances on offer. Beautiful area in the Blue Mountains. Village consists of one small street (Station Rd) with limited shops and facilities. If you want pubs/restaurants to add to your walking/trekking experience then this is not for you.

Kitchen! It's a fully functional kitchen with more than adequate equipment, cutlery and utensils. Beautiful landscaping that makes the cottage Instagram-able. Laundry facilities are effective and helpful. The living room has very comfortable sofas and arm chair, making family gatherings warm and comfortable. The host is very friendly, kind and helpful too. The cottage is nested in a quaint and quiet area, easily accessible to Blue Mountains' popular tourist sites/ lookouts by car.

The location is absolutely awesome and probably could only have been improved by better views. The fireplace in the room was fantastic (when it worked), the apartments are large, the tv was huge, the internet was good, wildlife is abundant, neighbours in other apartments seemed quiet. The heatpumps in each room worked well to keep us warm over the three cold winter nights and the spa bath was lovely to jump into after a run through Wentworth Falls on a windy and cold morning.

Spacious and well furnished property overlooking the mountains. Beds were cosy and included heated blankets which kept us very warm during our winter stay. Close walk to Valley of the Waters Lookout which connects to a great hiking trail towards Wentworth Falls. Fireplace and telescope were great additions to the enjoyment of the property. Firewood was also provided despite us being told to bring our own.

The place had a stunning view straight from the lounge area out to the mountain tops. Every room was well prepared with amenities for all weather. We even had a chance to use the fireplace on one of the wet days which made the stay that much cosier. The whole house was spacious and airy, with plenty of space for different activities.

The hotel was clean and warm although modest but the price was reflective of this and we didnt spend much time in the rooms. It was a quick drive to all of the attractions and eateries the Blue Mountains has to offer and the staff were friendly and happy to help with questions and recomendations.
